I have been interested in learning to distill alcohols for a few years...I already make wine so this seemed to make sense as a new hobby. This book so far is really good. I know very little about distilling but this is teaching me so much. It is written in simple, easy to understand language and goes through the whole process. It includes recipes and really everything you need to know to at least get started. I'm sure there are plenty of higher level books out there...but if you are a novice like me - this is a great way to get started.

I read through this book in about two days. I found the contents to be instructional and I appreciated the background information. There is a lot of good tips to get you going on your own. As this author points out, there are many different ways and it will be impossible to put it all in one book. If you are the experimental type and want to work your own recipes then this book will get you going with the knowledge you will need to go forward. There are a few recipes in the back of the book to help you get started and understand the process. If you are looking for instructions on how to make your own still, look else where. If you are contemplating on what kind of still to either build or purchase then this author covers it in detail. All in all, a good book and quick read to submerge you in to the world of distilling.

It was a good book. It focused quite heavily on the history and different methods i.e. the theoretical. While covering the practical, it felt lacking. If you're looking for something in depth about the process with all the tips and tricks of the trade, this is probably not the book for you.

Whereas an experienced distiller might find this book far too basics, it is instead excellent for a beginner. Concepts, equipments and techniques are explained nicely, and the writing is pleasant too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Introduction To Distilling
Reviewed in Canada on June 20, 2019
Coming from nearly zero knowledge, I found this to be very well organized in terms of building up the subject in a logical sequence, with an appropriate level of information. At no time did I feel overwhelmed or patronized by the level or quantity of information being presented. I will first reread the entirety of the material and then seek out more in depth knowledge for the subjects that most amuse me.

Best book for beginners. I’ve brought 3 books, all three had great reviews and this was by far the best. I searched a while before buying all three, trying to find the 3 best and this was the best of the 3.

It’s written very simple and straight forward. Goes into enough detail to make it informative. And the structure of the book is perfect. Some of the other books I’ve read seem to be a bit muddled.

Everything in the book flows and by the time you get to the end all bases have been covered
