Speaker Gingrich deftly defines the path to a Republican majority in 2024. We need to create budget surpluses to begin paying down the national debt which has grown from 5.67 trillion dollars in 2000, to over 31.7 trillion dollars today! Interest on this debt is exploding. The CBO estimates that our country will be at 119 percent of GDP by 2033! This path is absolutely unsustainable! Fiscal weakness means national weakness which will negatively impact our future economy.
House Republicans and Speaker Gingrich have sounded the alarm over this growing catastrophe. We need to look at Social Security and Medicare for any possible savings including smaller Social Security adjustments in the future not tied to inflation. Military spending has to be looked at more carefully to eliminate spending wherever possible.

Responsible people will focus on "how to get there from here." They will focus on working together for the common good.
