For years I tried different fad diets and other approaches to maintaining my health with limited success. None were sustainable, and were often difficult to understand. My gut always said that there was a practical approach to this but I didn’t know how to focus myself, and I always felt like I was missing something.

Then I discovered Dr. Nancy Miggins Mastering the Health Continuum and her 8 practices to managing good health. Each are rooted in common sense, but the combination helped put me on a path to a happier and healthier life. I really enjoyed her methodical and process-oriented approach and her direct and casual tone. I also liked how she broke down each concept to a scientific level (something the engineer in me appreciated), then wrapped it up with some straightforward “practice insights” to focus on.

In just a few weeks, through application of these practices, I have already changed my life for the better; my ‘thirst’ has returned (practice 1) and I have found new optimism despite my often sarcastic and negative energy through daily reflections of gratitude (practice 8).

A quick and engaging read, I highly recommend this book!

The phrase "There is nothing new under the sun" replayed through my mind as I read Dr. Nancy's book. With so many fad diets, get thin quick books and short cuts to health in our immediate gratification society. Dr. Nancy's book was so very refreshing! There are no short cuts, just caring well for our bodies and ourselves. To have her break down the 8 daily practices helps me to take my health in "bite size" steps. Starting with hydration, I have now moved to clean eating, breathing and gratitude journaling daily. Knowing that I am not competing with anyone but my own health and self and to be able to take it at my own pace has been so very helpful. I don't feel sold a fad diet, or overwhelmed with the process. It is wholistic and doable. I have shared her green drink with all my family and have it daily for breakfast. My mid morning crash is gone, as well as the inflammation of the protein heavy breakfasts I use to have!! That is when I became a convert! Thank you Dr. Nancy for bringing us back to the solid basics in a way that is achievable, kind and non judgemental. Love Love Love it!!!

Dr. Nancy Miggins work is sensational!. As a medical professional, this is the book that I will be recommending to my patients as the bible for prevention of disease. So often I am asked how to treat disease...the best medicine is prevention! Dr. Miggins simplifies prevention into 8 daily practices which are thoroughly outlined in the book. Not only does she discuss these guidelines from a simple medical standpoint for anyone to understand and learn more about how their body works, she provides detailed examples of how to easily incorporate them into your life, templates, and recipes! Dr. Miggins focuses on tackling each step separately prior to moving on to the next, and she provides continuous motivation to help you get there.

Some of my favorite motivational quotes are:
“This journey is about you compared to you.”
“If you don’t take care of yourself first, you will not be in a position to help others. The same applies to your health.”
“Be gentle with yourself. Love yourself. Be patient and trust the process.”

At the end of each section, Dr. Miggins provides Practice Insights which summarize goals into attainable guidelines to follow. I, much like Dr. Miggins, am a big believer in attitude and gratitude. You must have the motivation to want to change, the drive is within yourself. AND, we must be grateful. “Think it and ink it.”

I highly recommend this book! A MUST READ for those looking to make changes and prevent disease before we are forced to treat it!

This book is outstanding! I love that Dr. Miggins has created a book detailing what everyone should know about reclaiming their health and vitality, into an easy to read, easily implementable book. I really enjoyed reading the patient cases and results after integrating the 8 daily practices, as well as her own experiences in her journey. As a health coach, I have a lot of clients who want supplemental support for their friends and families and I always recommend this book! Even my (stubborn) father has been able to amplify his health because of Dr. Miggins' gentle, but effective approach! Highly, highly recommended!

A great book, completely researched and what you need to start easing yourself back into health or if already healthy keep you there. Covers the A-Z from diet to exercising to meditation to balance your mind body connection. Lots of great recipes to help you use the helpful tips concerning diet she lays out.

She also gives helpful exercises including my favorite walking. Walking as less stress on the body and great starter to advanced exercise! Finally she covers how important is working on increasing the stimulation to the brain. Which stimulates nerve growth helping to prevent dementia. Finally she covers body Ph with how important it is to eat alkaline foods and not overload it with acid foods. Overall great book and must read!

Dr. Miggins’ book offers a great balance between introductory or remedial education, for those who may not have thought about how the bodies systems work together to provide optimum health; valuable practices that are easy to implement with little to no effort; ideas on how to develop a plan that works best for you; and some great recipes too. I have already implemented a few of the practices that I never thought of before and my body and mind are thanking me. I am also telling my family of friends about what I have learned so a seed has been planted. I recommend you grab a big glass of water and start reading.
