I read the whole book, boring and long! The title says how to make a Video Game All By Yourself, which is not doable. The book goes on to tell you to hire people who have coding back ground, have worked on small projects and are willing to help you out. You can search out items you need for the program, such as music and art work or create your own. The book also talks about how to correctly search for the attributes to the game creation, but it does not tell you exactly how to put it together or create it. The content is dragging and very slow.

it's short and to the point. it's full of handy advice nuggets. It will help you as a solo indie developer. it won't actually help you program a game or anything like that (how could it in that small space?) but it *will* help you to know what to do, what questions to ask, and what path to follow.

If you’ve struggled with finishing your games and switching from engine to engine, this book will help you understand why you’re not finishing your projects and what you need to do fix it. There are countless resources out there on how to program games or make pixel art, but this book is the rare and welcome resource that will help you get in the right mindset for shipping games. Since reading the book twice over, I’ve released two games and am working on my third. It got me in the right frame of mind, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

And here's a little secret: Much of the advice in this book can applied to producing any creative work, not just games!

Highly recommended reading for anyone interested making their own video games; from complete beginners to experienced programmers or artists looking to manifest their nascent creative ideas.
