Learn to authentically engage with developers to attract more of them to your product.

Typical marketing tactics will fall flat on an audience of developers that sniff out anything promotional. Most developers are too skeptical to fill out lead forms or provide you with their real email address, which leaves you staring at your analytics with questions the data can’t possibly answer.

To reach a technical audience, you must acknowledge that developer marketing does not exist. Then, once you put away your marketing toolbox, you can begin to authentically engage with developers, a first step towards cultivating future customers.

Author Adam DuVander has worked with dozens of developer-focused companies to help them attract millions of the right developers to their products. Developer Marketing Does Not Exist will help you uncover what will actually resonate with your technical audience so you can start to reach more developers.

Opiniones editoriales

Críticas

"Peppered with anecdotes from DuVander's own experience speaking at conferences, working with developers, and so on, the book is definitely an engaging read. Among all that, there's practical advice on how to reach developers. And there's plenty of pop culture references too!

"With much experience in the industry, including stints with Zapier and SendGrid, DuVander is perhaps uniquely qualified to write this book. The circles that make up the Venn diagram of his career include development, (developer) marketing/communications, and writing. And Developer Marketing Doesn't Exist is evidence that he's damn good at the latter.

"API developers, evangelists, marketers, and other folks in the tech/API space, should all get something out of Developer Marketing Does Not Exist. Incendiary title aside,
this is an excellent guide to a subject that's usually reserved for long-form blog posts. It's nice to be able to hold something more substantial about it in your hands, with physical copies available on Amazon that can live in your bedside cabinet for a while."
— Nordic APIs

"An excellent summary of the challenges and rewards in developer relations and marketing"
— Mike Pegg, Google

Highly recommended. Developer Marketing Does Not Exist is full of nuggets.

— Mark O'Neill, Gartner

"I started reading and couldn't put it down! The principles and main concepts of the book are carried by memorable and relatable metaphors. Between the metaphors and the well timed jokes the book is engaging and informative. 10/10 would recommend."

Kristen Womack, Microsoft

This Book Is About Marketing: It's a Master's Clinic
Adam Duvander is more than a skilled writer with years of marketing experience, he is a teacher and a practical guide. He presents specific advice in a clear and well-considered format, getting straight to the heart of how developers operate, and where so many marketers miss the mark. This book is the truth if your aim is to influence a technical audience, and I strongly recommend it for serious marketing professionals.

This book is a blueprint for creating a successful Dev Rel program. It has specific steps you can implement to begin your journey. It provides ways to gain incremental progress without having to swallow the whole elephant all at once. This author is engaging to read with lots of analogies and pop culture references. I read it in a day—including taking copious notes. Buy it!

Clearly and concisely written. This book focuses on the meat of the subject and manages not get lost in the weeds. Lots of great, actionable advice on what to do and how to go about it when addressing a developer audience.

It's a quick, accessible read and the author knows his business well.

Unlike Adam's dog at the end of the country lane, I now have a plan: how to connect rather than to market, and in the process build a lasting developer community by educating *every step of the way*.

This book throws out the fluff, and provides a clear, step-by-step blueprint for all of your developer outreach. Adam also covers the "who" by helping you imagine the roles and the team you'll need to build to make this happen.

Worth every penny. It's made me rethink not just how I market to developers, but to everyone that uses or buys our our product! Armed with this book as my guide, I'm implementing one of his key suggestions this week!

A very smart book, full of examples and small steps you can take to quickly ramp up your efforts. Delightful historical perspectives, no b.s. calls for authenticity, a focus on utility over promotion. Truly something that all marketers could benefit from reading, as the world at large grows more skeptical and hopefully smarter - like developers have long been.
