About the author

Aimee Brown is a writer of romantic comedies set in Portland, Oregon. She writes closed door romance (NO sex scenes, light kissing) with humor and crude language. She spends much of her time writing, raising three kids (who are all nearly grown now), binge-watching shows on Netflix and obsessively cleaning and redecorating her house. She's fluent in sarcasm and has been known to utter profanities like she's competing for a medal.
Aimee grew up in Oregon but is now a transplant living in cold Montana with her husband of twenty+ years, two of three children, and far too many pets. She is a lot older than she looks and yes, that is a tattoo across her chest.
Aimee is very active on social media. She'd love to have you stop by and say hi!

However, I had quite a bit of problems with the comma placements. There were many, many instances of improper usage. Sometimes sentences were only clauses, sometimes they were run-one, sometimes there needed to be commas for clarification, and sometimes commas were in unnecessary or even misleading places. I often needed to reread sentences or passages to determine what the author really meant.
Aimee, if you see this, I think your writing (plot/settings/characters) was good, but the editing was unfortunately not. If you are interested, I would be willing to proofread any of your future books to improve the grammar, and to help you avoid preventable confusion for the reader.
Jack was not innocent as you portray him to be. If he loved Emi as much as he claimed , his secretary would never
never ended up naked on top of him in his office!! He would have stopped her immediately. He wouldn't have invited Greta
(a different scantily clad woman) into his and Emi's apartment later that said day.
Limon was a better choice.
The story kept me on my toes until the very end, which was such an AWW moment.
I loved how in alternating chapters the story moved both forward in the present and backward to the past. It was a super clever writing device.
In short, witty and full of heart… a total gem!

Emi (the heroine?) was irritating and if I had been Evan (her brother) and Hannah (his fiancee) I would have been furious that she made their wedding all about her and Jack. Why they and her friends put up with her drama I cannot understand.
Liam, who got pulled into the story, was interesting but was largely irrelevant.

Emi is our hapless heroine, who lost the love of her life, and fiancé, Jack, on the eve of their wedding, to not one, but two women.
With her best friend Lisa, and Lisa's husband, Josh, she ups sticks and leaves life as she knows it, recreating her life in a new town.
Only to find that being a cafe owner means that you might not just pile cakes on a plate, but also pile pounds onto your body.
Then her twin brother is getting married, a wedding she has to attend. Only, it's to her ex-fiancé's sister.
AWKWARD!
What follows is a tale which swings from a story based in the past, to the present timeline.
I really sympathised with Emi, but, I was rooting for Jack, too, to be honest!
Lots of fun characters and a quick, easy read, with a feel-good factor!

What can I say, I’m now a Fan of this author. The narrative and character development was so good. The story developed and proved that you don’t need pages of over described sex to write a good book. This was a really well thought out story that wasn’t rushed and had moments of laughter tears and heartbreak.
Once I started I had to finish it but was upset as I’d already read her next book first. Can’t wait for more by this author a truly wonderful read.
