I think that fermenting and pickling are two forms of food preservation that are overlooked. This book opens by explaining what fermenting is, what food works with that method and its benefits. The beginning also looks at pickling, how to do it, and its benefits. Then we get into the recipes. I found that the recipes cover a wide range of foods. There was of course the expected sauerkraut, but there were also a liver recipes and some chowder recipes. I was surprised that there were so many things that can be pickled or fermented. I really did learn more than I expected to.

I got this book for the recipes and so far have not been disappointed. I love ther versaility and how easy the recipes are.

I didn't even know this was even a thing until I saw this book and to find out there are so many different forms of fermentation and also health advantages that goes with it. This book tells everything you should know before you start pickling and exactly what it is, this book has a lot of good recipes and it has the nutritional values which is helpful if your trying to stay healthy.

Not only are pickling and fermenting good ways to preserve foods these methods are also an excellent way to get probiotics in your gut. It's a win-win.

Lately we hear more and more about fermented foods and vegetables, about the new and extraordinary flavors that fermentations make us discover and how useful these are to our body. In addition, these are foods rich in live microorganisms, mostly lactic acid bacteria, which enrich our intestinal microbiota, the seat of the immune system. Among the various fermented foods, there are some that are easier to prepare. Fermenting vegetables is definitely an easy starting point for those who want to try, because it is a very easy technique, safe with almost immediate results. It also does not require starters or special equipment: it will be sufficient to have a container, seasonal vegetables, water and salt.A book I recommend.

With this book, a little patience and some basic cooking tools, I have managed to preserve some of the tastiest pickles I have ever had. I have learnt new preserving techniques such as fermentation and with so many health benefits, along with the recipes I am also using the canning technique to seal my jars of pickled vegetables and fermented fruits, which I found very easy to follow.
