- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2016Five stars for David.
I have been a fan since the mid 60's as he was always varying his music and styles, but always original with his music.
Gone but never forgotten.
All of his music was fantastic.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2012This book gives insight into the man behind the many images. From his humble beginnings, to the many years of hard work before his stardom to the invention of Glam Rock. David Bowie was a true inventor and not a imitator. Many of the myths of his sexuality and relationships are disclosed. A sound discology of Bowies many hits and experimental tracks. A good read for Bowie Fans or anyone who grew up in the sixties and seventies. Ziggy, The Duke - they all make an appearance!

MichalReviewed in Australia on May 10, 20162.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Disappointing. A collection of college-style song reviews with just as much insight into them. Was hoping for something like the outstanding The Complete David Bowie but with more titbits and trivia but the book sadly doesn't deliver. Avoid.
Peter in NumataReviewed in Japan on November 25, 20151.0 out of 5 stars Misleading title
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseJust tells you what the songs say (simplistically at that) with a very few quotes from well-known interviews. Almost no stories behind the songs from Bowie or others involved.

Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseA well written and researched book.
Mr. C CoulsonReviewed in the United Kingdom on February 8, 20111.0 out of 5 stars Don't Judge a book by the cover
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis book claims to be The Stories behind the songs of David Bowie - well that's what it says on the cover. Unlike Steve Turner's excellent Beatles, stories behind the songs books, Chris Welch's book is merely his own observations and analyses of Bowie's songs. It's not especially perceptive or revealing and it's certainly not worth the price I paid.
Avoid unless you're a Bowie completist
