It didn't stop me, but it did make me a whole lot more cautious about how I approached 2 and 4 wheeled vehicles.
This book piqued my interest when I learned that Dr. Gordon was an adjunct professor at our university. Dr. Gordon has a very unique sense of humor, forged by years of traveling, music, and late nights in emergency rooms. I had the pleasure of doing a 4 week rotation through his office, and I can assure you his sense of humor is only beaten by the level of care and concern he has for his patients.
This book is full of practical advice from the road, and a great lot of it applies to non motorcyclists as well. As a mountain biker as well, so much of this book is filled with practical bits of knowledge that many people simply do not know, and SHOULD know. There are tons of great anecdotes to illustrate each point.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and I think anyone with an interest in practical nuts and bolts rubber meets road advice on health and safety would enjoy this as well. I caught myself laughing out loud many times while reading this and drinking my coffee in the mornings. You might want to wear a dark colored shirt...
It's possible that after reading the book you will want to tell your doctor to check for some other diagnosis than what you're given initially. That kind of information is always valuable. Your doc has finite time with you, and how many of us have left his/her office thinking "I should have mentioned this too...."
flash is an enjoyable author and if you have interest in the topic, it's a recommended book.
And how often to you get to read an author whose name really is written all lower-case?
