Review

***** Who knew teeth had such fascinating stories to tell? Meliors Simms, that's who! In her book "The Secret Lives of Teeth," she takes us on a journey into the unexplored territories of oral health, where enamel meets emotion and gums greet spirituality.

Simms, the self-proclaimed Holistic Tooth Fairy, has a knack for making the complex simple and the mundane magical. Her book is like a dental detective novel, where each tooth has a unique personality and a tale to tell. The Tooth Archetypes she introduces are as intriguing as they are enlightening, making you wonder if your molars might be more sensitive than you thought!

The book is not just about understanding the emotional influences on oral health, it's also a guide to self-help. It's packed with metaphysical exercises that are like yoga for your teeth, helping to relieve not just the physical symptoms but also the emotional baggage we often carry in our mouths.

Simms' writing style is as refreshing as a minty toothpaste, with a dash of humor that makes the book a joy to read. She takes a topic that could be dry and clinical and infuses it with warmth and wit. You'll find yourself chuckling at her toothy puns and smiling at her insightful observations.

In conclusion, "The Secret Lives of Teeth" is a must-read for anyone who has ever wondered if there's more to oral health than just brushing and flossing. It's a book that will make you look at your teeth in a whole new light. So, the next time you smile in the mirror, remember, your teeth have secrets to tell, and thanks to Meliors Simms, you now have the key to understanding them.

This book is very much in line with my belief that our emotional/internal state is reflected by our physical body through health issues (Louise Hay's book is a classic on this topic). I was ecstatic that somebody in the universe finally wrote a book on teeth and their spiritual/emotional meanings! You could say I have an obsession with my teeth - I brush, floss, water floss, tongue scrape, rinse my mouth after food, use xylitol mints, oil pull, buy $40 toothpastes, practice "mewing," myofunctional therapy, etc etc. And yet .... with such fastidious care, I still have neverending tooth sensitivity. The book does discuss how diet plays a big role, and that fruit sugar is still sugar, according to your teeth. I have drastically changed my diet over the years, hoping to see improvements to my teeth. But being raised vegetarian gave me a not so great start (lots of carbohydrates, ie sugar, mainly in the form of organic fruits & wheat). Recently, I became animal-based/carnivore, and I have been seeing gradual improvements.Anyway, back to the book... I read about all the individual problem teeth that I have, and then wrote up all the applicable remarks on a sticky note to keep on the front cover, to remind myself what I need to work on: I tend to put my needs last, speak harshly to myself, procrastinate out of fear of making a mistake, etc.A couple tooth examples: The tooth that represents relationships had its sealant pop off, revealing decay underneath. This occurred after getting pregnant soon after having my first child. It was probably one of the most stressful times in my marriage, thus was reflected in what happened to that tooth. Also, there was an episode when I was not on speaking terms with my sister. After this occurred, the tooth that represents siblings started getting sensitive. After I confronted my sister and healed the relationship, the sensitivity in that tooth went away. This book also discusses why I have more tooth problems on the left side of my mouth (the left represents your private life) and on my lower jaw (not being decisive, speaking out, or taking action). The information in this book should be taught in every school. Kids should grow up with this kind of knowledge and understand how every emotion, action, thought, etc influences their physical bodies. This is the missing piece to having true health and well-being.

This is the Louise Hay book for teeth ... even better perhaps. Simms does an excellent job relating teeth and mouth healing to emotional causes. Very impressed with the book. 5 stars!

I found this author known as “The Tooth Fairy” on Insight Timer. She’s knowledgeable and fun. I enjoy her live events on the app so I couldn’t wait for this book. The information is curiously spot on and the practices offered are helpful. Seemed like common sense that each of the two times I was pregnant, I got cavities; never before, never after. But when I broke a tooth after a divorce, I realized that the only other broken tooth was after a breakup. Possible coincidence but this book goes into detail about why that specific tooth or even part of the tooth is affected and what you can do to heal. There is also information about other aspects of dental health. She’s working on a new book and I can’t wait!

I am so grateful to have found Meliors here in New Zealand and to have a copy of her book. I've had a lot of dental issues this past year and the book highlights the metaphysical elements of teeth which were spot on for me. I leave this book on our coffee table and every person who comes to visit inevitably picks it up to find information to related to their own teeth issues. Looking forward to the next book coming.

I have always been interested in holistic health. When I had an issue with a tooth I got this book.
It's very detailed and the author does a great job of explaining the symbolism of teeth and how it all relates to the psyche. I came away from it with many realizations about myself and how my attitudes in life were expressed through my teeth and gums. It was a mind blower! I look forward to her future books. This one was a treasure trove of helpful information presented in a very accessible writing style.

I enjoyed reading “The Secret Lives of Teeth: Understanding Emotional Influences on Oral Health" by Meliors Simms who in my opinion is a highly intelligent and exceptionally talented writer who has written a clear, concise, and intriguing book about the connection between teeth and emotions. In my opinion, it is a very unique book giving new insight into dental health in ways many are not aware of.

She, in my opinion, is very knowledgeable on the subject and her book provides a concise and somewhat thorough education on this subject in a pleasant manner. She writes directly to the subject and provides excellent and practical information as well as exercises for personal development in Part III of the book that produces real results. She also provides references for further study.

This author explains, “… this book is intended to work like a guidebook, rather than a dictionary. Here, you can access the grammar and culture of your teeth and gums, not just reference a new vocabulary. If you really want to enable sustained healing and transform your relationship with your teeth and gums, it’s vital to understand and respond to your mouth’s specific, personal messages about your unique circumstances.”

All in all, this is a very interesting and unique book and well worth reading. Very well done!
It was my pleasure to receive a copy of this book and that does not in any way affect my opinion of this exceptional and excellent book.

As far as I know this is a truly unique book.

Not only are the energetic connections between teeth and the rest of the body discussed, but the emotional and other characteristics of each individual tooth analysed in detail.

Thought-provoking. And highly recommended.
