Seriously what can I say. In the wake of his death I have discovered how very much we lost when Prince died. Every time I think I cannot find more from his music...I do. He was consummate professional and gifted musically beyond measure. I am not proud I did not know that when he was alive but the gems I have found since then...priceless. This was not necessarily one if his most well received albums and still, I love it. I cannot tell you if you will love it but I can say this is yet another example of a musical legacy worth sharing and treasuring.

Fantastic Concept Album!

The CD arrived within the expected time frame and was packaged perfectly to avoid damage. Fantastic album as well! I was a "super fan" from the beginning through Purple Rain and then (unfortunately) bailed as I dove into ballet and classical music for many years. His death, however, prompted something in me subconsciously, like it turned on my "super fan" mode again. Now I can't get enough of his music and bemoan those many lost years. But rather than kicking myself, I'm enjoying his music more than ever and listen to it and discover "new" songs daily. This album is no exception. I've been reading a lot of books on Prince of late, including Matt Thorne's "Prince" The Man and His Music" and Mayte's "The Most Beautiful." Mayte's book touches upon this period in a more personal way whereas Matt's book touches upon it musically and technically. Both provide terrific background information with which to enjoy and understand this album. And what an incredible album it is! Beyond the Egyptian and Middle Eastern flair evident throughout, it also highlights Prince's journey into toying with his name change to an unpronounceable symbol, starting with "My Name is Prince," to the "killing off" of his multiple Prince identities in "7" and finally to the "Sacrifice of Victor."

Diamonds & Pearls is the more cohesive, solid record, but Love Symbol is an excellent Prince album. There are a number of great tracks on here and somehow, even given some of its early '90s production values and sound, it holds up as an artistically really cool offering from Prince. You get the smash hit, "7," on this album. You also get the killer opener, "My Name Is Prince" and my own personal favorite, "Love 2 The Nines," among others. "The Morning Papers" is a really nice one.

If I was stranded on a deserted island this is one of the CD's that I'd like to have with me. This is one of my favorites, up there with Sign O the Times, 1999, Controversy, Dirty Mind, and Gold. I can put this on and play it straight through with no thought of skipping. It's one jam after another.

I like this CD, but there are a couple of songs that I don't put on repeat the way I do most of his stuff.
(It may be subliminal, though, because Mayte Garcia is part of it and I have a mental block about her.)

Great cd by Prince & The New Power Generation. Loved all of the songs on the cd, this was the explicit version so I hear it does come in the clean version as well but I am a Prince fan so I like the version I have. I would tell other people if you love Prince buy this for your cd collection !

This is probably one of his best albums. Just a string of good music. You will want to listen to this over and over again. Since his death I've been on a mission to collect all of his CDs in the order of the drop date. I skipped ahead a little and bought this one....LOVE IT!!!!!!

I must admit that I am not the best judge for this review. Prince could have recorded himself snoring and I would have purchased multiple copies. I have a deep and abiding love for all things Prince and I am just so happy that we have his music that will live forever! RIP Prince!
