Zojirushi NHS-06 3-Cup Rice Cooker: Small but Mighty!
I just got the Zojirushi NHS-06 3-cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker in white, and I absolutely love it! This little rice cooker is incredibly easy to use. Just flip the single switch, and you’re on your way to perfectly cooked rice. The see-through glass lid is fantastic because you can keep an eye on the rice without lifting the lid, and the knob stays cool, so no burnt fingers here. The handles also stay cool, making it super easy to move around even when it's hot.The nonstick inner cooking pan is a total game changer. No more rice sticking to the bottom, and cleaning up is so easy. Plus, it comes with a handy measuring cup. One 6-ounce cup of uncooked rice makes about 2 to 3 cups of cooked rice, which is perfect for small meals.Overall, the Zojirushi NHS-06 is an awesome little rice cooker. It's perfect for small kitchens and cooks rice perfectly every time. If you’re looking for a reliable and easy-to-use rice cooker, this one is definitely worth it!If you're having issues with starch-laden water spitting out of the tiny vent hole in the lid or water spraying out of the vent spout, it usually means you put in too much water or didn’t wash your rice thoroughly enough. I just cooked 3 cups (uncooked) of rice, and it came out perfect—no oversprays or water coming through the vent. Check out my pictures for reference.

This small rice maker is perfect for 2-4 people. It fits easily in a kitchen cabinet (unlike fancier multi-function pots). Put in rinsed rice, fill with water to the appropriate line in the pot, close, and press the switch. You don't have to watch the cooker at all - no boiling over, no over cooking. There are no settings or choices - on it cooks and off it goes when it is done. Let the rice sit for 10+ minutes, fluff with a fork, and enjoy. Cleans easily with a soft cloth and mild dish soap.
It comes with a rice spoon and measuring cup. NOTE: the cup is not a standard US measure, so when it says the pot makes 3 cups, it is 3 of the smaller measuring "cups." It will still make enough for an average family of 4. There is a steam plate that you can purchase, but the pot is small enough that it would probably not be useful as a steamer. If you want to do anything besides rice making, this is probably not the pot for you. But if you want an inexpensive and easy way to make great rice, but this cooker.
To preface, I'm an Asian who grew up always eating rice, so when I moved out, I was keen on getting a cheap but decent rice cooker ASAP. I've had it for a little under a year now, and for comparison I'll use my parents' Cuckoo CR-0631F, which I've always liked.
I wasn't expecting much out of this rice cooker when I bought it due to the price, but I trust Zojirushi so I had my fingers crossed. Overall, it's a good purchase!
Good points of the Zojirushi: + consistently well-cooked rice + very easy to use (just put rice, water, and then flip the switch) + is obvious when it is on (red light emits) + well-priced (cheap!) + has lasted longer than I expected + easy to clean, except for the first bad point
Bad points: - has an issue with water bubbling/spilling out the top sometimes (along the steam escape hole and sides of the lid), which is annoying and messy. countertop on which it stands ends up wet and sticky with rice water. have to use a cloth to prevent this from making a mess --> good point: it doesn't happen ALWAYS, mostly only when cooking smaller amounts of rice - no "warm" option, so any rice you cook will get cold if you leave it in the cooker. means you have to either freeze/reheat the rice or cook new rice every time - occasionally rice is very watery after it is finished cooking, but it quickly becomes the right consistency/texture once taking it out of the pot to cool
For the person/family that doesn't often eat rice, this is a great purchase. The downsides are so minor that you won't notice them if you're only using this occasionally. The price is good. It is a very basic rice cooker, but it is consistent, reliable, and sturdy.
However, for the person/family that often eats rice, this might become annoying, as it has for me. I'm looking into getting a Cuckoo with a warming function in the future.
This rice cooker is great & fits in my tiny kitchen. There are no extra bells and whistles, just an on/off switch, so there are less things that can break down- we've had it for 6 months and no problems at all. It makes more than enough delicious, fluffy rice for us (2 8oz cups of rinsed rice plus 3 8oz cups of water.) Very happy with the purchase.
This is simply the best rice cooker ever made. The best rice cooker on earth. Simple, no nonsense. Cooks rice perfectly. Everyday, for a decade.
You want digital screen, bread maker/instant pot/ultra combo that cooks rice? It won't make good rice, and that contraption is huge. You want a rice cooker? Your search is over. Buy this rice cooker.
I got this for my boyfriend as he eats a lot of rice and the two of us use it almost every day. It cooks really quickly very consistently, as its just the two of us we don’t need to make a lot of rice so the 5 cups is all we need. The only difference I could really find between this one and one of the more expensive ones from zojirushi is that this one doesn’t have a warmer, but if you’re a small family I think you would eat all the rice and not need a warmer.
I took pictures with my hand for reference for size. I have smaller hands, so its really not going to take up much space on your counter

Very pleased with this little gem. This is our second rice cooker. Although we were pleased with the previous "other brand" that made wonderful rice during the 12 years of ongoing use, we decided to replace it with the Zojirushi based on reputation, size and looks and so far we have not been disappointed. The rice turns out perfect every time. It fits nicely in the cupboard, looks good on the counter and it is super simple to use. It has not produced any of the messiness that has been reported in other reviews (and that we experienced with the former rice cooker, which I think may be common with most rice cookers of this style). Very pleased with our purchase and highly recommend.
I love this rice cooker! I bought it for myself but now my mom uses it often for family dinners as well! It’s extremely easy to use, the only problem is that there is no timer or beeper. When the light goes off it’s done, but I’ve found that it best to leave it for 10-15 minutes on keep warm before turning it off. The time it cooks depends on how much rice you put in it, so the rice is always perfect, unless you don’t follow the water to rice ratio. It’s also easy to clean as you just take out the insert :) but keep in mind that you can’t put it in the dishwasher, some people have been saying their rice is sticking to the pot and that is probably why.
