Top customer reviews
Please buy the burr grinder if you'd like to watch KRUPS hilariously embarrass themselves and spoil their name. Otherwise, save yourself the the time driving to UPS for the inevitable return.
ALSO, a message to Amazon: Having multiple products on a single page is fine if we're talking about slightly different options or colors. Here, there is enough difference (I'd hope) between the blade and the burr grinder that I feel mislead by a unified rating for both products. Something to consider.
As for the reviews on Amazon, it seemed to have great reviews, but on further inspection, I realized that all the reviews are actually for completely different grinder. I just noticed that every review has a small note that it is for "style name: blades", which seems to mean that they are all for a blade grinder that is nothing like the GX5000 that I was shopping for. Not sure why this is, but it is very confusing and should be remedied.
Either way, if you are looking for a grinder where you have control over the grind being produced, I highly recommend that you look elsewhere. I will be trying to return this even though it has been used. If I cannot return it, it will turn out to be a total loss because it is unusable.
However it makes a mess every time you grind. Coffee grinds should go from the shoot to the plastic receptacle, but they constantly get stuck in between. So every time you remove it to dump the coffee grounds, about a half teaspoon gets on the base of the grinder and on your counter. Coffee grinds also get stuck on the lid of the receptacle.
Just expect to have a little clean up every time you make coffee... It's frustrating but the grinder looks good and is faster than a hand grinder.
Regardless. I've ground coffee beans twice so far and seems fine.
The reason for 4 star instead of 5 is because after putting the beans in the tank, you then have to tell it how many cups worth you put in:
-Not high enough number chosen, and you're left with some half crushed/whole beans.
-Too high of a number chosen, and once the bean tank is empty.. the grinder continues to spin, but sounds like it's about to explode.. or like an airplane taking off the way it accelerates without the resistance of beans being crushed.
For 40 bucks, I'd like to think a basic sensor could be implemented.. eliminating the need to manually tell this device how long it will need to spin for.
