- Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2012I would like to begin by saying that I purchased this game from the seller Chrome Lunic. I got it right on time, and if Microsoft didn't put stickers on the sides of the games, you could have fooled me into thinking it was never opened. It was in absolute perfect condition, and I will recommend them to anyone.
As for the game itself, MechAssault is truly a classic, in my eyes. Before I knew that this would be playable on my 360, I almost went out and bought another old Xbox just to relive this one. If you really want to have fun in a game, pick this up, as it will have you running around in a giant mech, fighting other mechs, and wrecking cities into nothing but rubble. I can easily kill hours on this one, just playing with all of the high powered weaponry that you are equipped with. I strongly recommend this to anyone who wants a game where you can just enjoy yourself for as long as you need and shut down at any time. I'm about to go play it after I finish this review. I find this game deserving a 10/10. If you like it, give the sequel a chance, too!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2004MechAssault is a great Xbox game. If you have played Mech Warrior or BattleTech, you will really enjoy the game. It is a literal "BLAST". If you grew up with the PC versions of the game there are some substantial differences. You live your life in the third party world controlling your mech through a multitude of challenging missions. The true differences from PC to Xbox are there is little to no Mech-Management. You are now the pilot and the focus is the mission, not the Mech. Graphics are fantastic. Buildings explode and then crumble. Mechs suffer, and catastrophically explode. If you have migrated from the PC to the Xbox, the controls are a different (no mouse, no joystick). It takes a very short time to master the controls.
I have had a lot of fun with this game and can not wait to go Live. For me it is a must buy, and the first game I picked up. I hope there is more to come for the Mech Warrior fans.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2024I dislike the product is not correctly labeled as the platinum edition. This leads people to believe it's the original version.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2013MechAssault was an early release for the original XBOX and one of the first games to support the original XBOX live, now canceled as of 2010. This game put you in the drivers seat of an advanced Mech unit and it is your job to save your squad and the world from the "Word of Blake", a cult who follows a mad man set on world domination. As levels progress you have many more Mechs to choose from. From fast scout Mechs and medium battle Mechs to the Heavy walking behemoth the Atlas. This game was one of the best selling original XBOX games to date and is perfect for any original XBOX collector. This is an original XBOX game and it will NOT play on XBOX 360.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2014Legend of zelda, Megaman Xtreme, Halo.... This is one of the games that started my video game craves. I live shooting down mechs and all that and it truly a bummer that xbox live isn't around for the xbox original.... But.... Single player gives you much choices of survival mode against waves of mechs, you can earn a mech if finished single player story line, and even if there no xbox live... You can play with your buddy if you have another controller. If you want to go further into playing with others, you can check out Xbox Connect, if people still play it (most chance they will play mechassault 2, which is one of my happy moments of my life)
Thanks.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2011I have a lot of game systems, I havent seen a better series of big robot games since these. My 7 year old simply loves this game, when I bought it the first time he wasnt even born yet.
Overall; Great playability, easy to learn and keeps you entertained at a not too difficult level for hours.
to bad the developing co is no longer, it would have been sweet too see a remake on the 360
- Reviewed in the United States on November 24, 2002Couldn't wait until I got Xbox Live to write this. The game and graphics are awesome. I didn't believe some of the reviews which indicated that the single player game is short. Well, it is! Thats too bad because anyone without Live who really wants a cool Mech game like this is out of luck. I finished it in a weekend. It's still fun but, at least they could have let you choose any Mech you wanted, to play from the beginning, after beating it. Thats my biggest gripe. I am getting Live next week and by what I have read it seems that that's where most of the fun is. If you don't have Live and won't have it anytime soon then I suggest renting this game first. You might just beat it and decide it's not worth keeping.
I got Live and it does make owning Mech Assault more worth the money. Multiplayer is a blst. I just hope there is a Mech Assault 2 because after replaying the single player mode I can see alot of things that could be added to make the game near perfect. Don't listen to any reviews here that totally bash this game. The graphics are outstanding for an Xbox game. There is no screeching noise when you walk. It's a BOOM, BOOM sound when you walk. And you do need to aim if you really want to bring down another Mech. If you love Mech games you need to at least rent it.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2006this is a fun game if your inti the mechs the graphics are good but like the first halo game type the difficulty level are weak to easy to kill stuff but expert setting there only like 7 mechs and then varients of those ones that just have differnet weapons loadout the multiplayer is good but not great

great game, one of the reasons i bought the original xbox. best mech game ever made. wish we could get a current version of it, but, this will do in a pinch for your giant robot smashing needs. too bad xbox live no longer exists for xbox original
BuyerReviewed in Canada on September 24, 20205.0 out of 5 stars Will buy from seller again
Bought an original Xbox game. Game was in perfect condition. Only thing was that it was in a 360 case instead of the original Xbox case. Otherwise in immaculate condition. Great packaging and was delivered on time.
