Directions

1) Set Sensitivity Dial to Home 2) Plug appliance into left receptacle of The Clapper 3) Plug Clapper into wall Socket 4) Manually turn appliance on. 5) You can now turn your appliance on or off by clapping. You don't have to clap very hard! The Clapping sequence is more important than how loudly you clap: CLAP (pause) CLAP (pause) (pause) (pause) Where each pause is approximately ½ to 1 second long. The Three pauses after the second clap are very important. The Clap Detection Lights will only glow when a proper clap is detected. These lights will help you determine the proper speed and loudness of your claps that are necessary to activate your appliance. Please refer to detailed instructions for additional information on other features.

    Good product but when I clapped 3 times to turn on and off my lamp, it was kinda slow to do it's job. When I tried it again, it worked after clapping several times to turn it off and on.

    I purchased this for my mother who has very poor dexterity due to arthritis. She is able to clap - although a bit weakly so. Nevertheless, she can now control her room light instead of waiting for us to come by and adjust her lighting for her.
    Some days, as we were working or running errands, she would have to patiently wait for us to turn her lamp on or off. Now she has a little more control.
    If there was anything that could be changed, I wish I could adjust the sensitivity of the clap sound. At her weakened state, her claps are soft and are not always detected by the device. We moved the clapper up to her night stand and secured it safely to the side by bringing up a heavy duty extension cord through the table, yet out of the way. This makes it physically close to her. So far so good.

    I bought this because I was tired of struggling to find the light switch in the dark when I wake up in the middle of the night to use the restroom. Thought it would make life easier, but it doesn’t work as expected. For reference, I use this in my bedroom plugged right next to my bed.
    As mentioned in other reviews, it doesn’t work well with clapping, but responds better to knocking. This is a problem though because I’d rather not have to knock on my bed frame or nightstand. Plus, my bed is against the wall so sometimes when I get on/off or even just adjust, the clapper hears that as claps and will turn on/off undesirably. On the flip side, if I’m not right next to it, it won’t hear my claps or knocks. Overall, it has potential but only works properly 20 percent of the time.

    I don’t know how it does it, but it amazingly distinguishes between random noises and loud claps. I believe it’s the rhythm that it goes by. The genius thing is that there’s a light showing if it registers your claps so you can learn the rhythm needed. I recently discovered that it also responds to taps so when I’m nearby the device, I just tap on it in the same rhythm. We have two different items plugged in, one turns on/off on 2 claps, and one turns on/off on 3 claps. Truly this device is fantastic. My elementary school kid wanted it because her light switch is far from her bed and she loves it. I’m so glad we got this instead of some wifi or other unnecessary higher tech gadget.

    Way cool, I remember adds for this year's ago, never thought I would have one. There are two separate channels for two separate plugs. Two claps for one amd three for the other. Very nice when you cannot get to the cord to turn off a floor lamp. One little problem is that whenever there is a series of two sounds there is a chance the unit will turn on or off. For example i had it on and my kid closed a two door cabinet in the kitchen first one then the other and the light turned off... Nothing major though. The hardiness far outweighs that problem.
