Good news if you liked San Francisco Rush 2049 on the Dreamcast system...

I bought this for San Francisco Rush 2049 alone, hoping it would be the same version as it was on the Dreamcast, and from what I can tell, it's exactly the same. (It's an improvement in a couple of ways, actually: My PS2 console is quieter, and the controllers are smaller.)

Another reviewer here (Team Noodles) pointed out that braking and accelerating are assigned to L1 and R1, and can't be modified. TN goes on to say: "In PS2 racing games, acceleration is mapped to Cross, and braking is mapped to Square. This makes the game cumbersome to any PS2 gamer who regularly uses the standard PS2 controller for other PS2 racing games."

While this information is accurate, it's really not a problem if you've done much racing on the PS3, which usually assigns braking and accelerating to L2 and R2. It's only going to be a problem if you want all your racing games to use the cross and square, because like TN said, this game doesn't allow you to modify the controller.

The two good games on this are Hydro Thunder and RUSH 2049 San Francisco. Still lower quality than say Midnight Club II, but the only decent boat racing game I could find for PS2. There is a lot to explore in RUSH 2049 and will probably take me and the kids years to know everything. Good family fun.
The other games are too frustrating for the kids to play because of the poor graphics and poor controller response.

The games in this collection are a great load of fun to play and will no doubt bring back memories for you old time gamers. The controll for all the games is great but where this collection lacks is in the graphics. The graphics seem a little muddy and jaggy, I know they were not cutting edge when they came out but Hydro Thunder and Off Road Thunder in particular looked much better on the Dreamcast and Xbox which used to be the direct competitor of the Playstation 2. If you haven't jumped on the PS3 or 360 bandwagon yet then pick this up for fun.

If you're looking to buy this for A game other than Rush the Rock then don't mind my review...otherwise, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!! I bought this for Rush the Rock and was very excited when I received it, fired it up in my PS2, Selected Rush the Rock, was excited when it loaded, then was very, VERY shocked, As far as I know, they've replaced about every single sound effects, music, and Announcer, the Announcer from the arcade version got replaced with A NEW ONE! They even killed the "What's your name?!" Song, so overall If you're looking to buy this for any game other than Rush the Rock then go ahead otherwise don't buy this.
