Customers say

Customers appreciate the guitar's quality and sound. They find it has a strong bass and clear treble, with an impressive resonance that keeps ringing long after hitting the strings. However, some customers find the D-28 has more volume due to its deeper sound box and better tone.

D28 for desert please
Having owned a few amazing American solid wood guitars.. I gotta say.. this new 2017 era D28 is my favorite. The impeccable craftsmanship is outstanding. It’s flawless. The Sitka top is a work of art. The intonation and sustain is world class. The tuners are microscopic in detail tuning with their fine gear ratio. One caveat and it’s a compliment. The D28 is string picky. Mediums non coated are what makes this wood shine. Not to say you can’t use any string but, the big dread is so accurate, it brings the flaws and the greatness out in the strings.. get great bP medium or medium light strings non coated and dammmmm ... enjoy

I'm giving it 5 stars because it arrived in absolute pristine flawless condition, and because I paid $1900 for it when it retails for over $3600, so it was an absolute steal. The mixed recordings I have from my sessions with this instrument are pretty terrible though. The point is, there's not guarantee you'll get a five star recording out of this instrument. If you are on a budget, your money is best spent on new strings, a treated room, a good preamp and a quality HIGH FIDELITY microphone. Don't fall for those $4000 vintage condenser mics. Get a QTC30 Omni by earthworks and record this instrument with it independently in a treated room. Don't play and sing at the same time - save that for your live performances. Record 1 part at a time with a high fidelity omni mic in a treated room. Also, a good engineer will get you a better sound with a $500 guitar than a bad engineer will get you with a $4000 guitar. If your engineer primarily records hip hop, chances are he'll be bad at EQ'ing acoustic guitar, but a guy who records folk will tend to be great at it. I did have to change the strings out immediately since the original ones screeched so badly.

    I live in Colombia southamerica.
    I bought a D28 Martin acustic guitar.
I bought by by internet in great southern music in November 26. Four days ago the guitar was delivered to me.
The guitar is pretty, but strings buzz
For this brabd and Price is incredible that thing
i wrote to martin company and they said: This is not a quality control issue but due to the change in climates it may just need a simple adjustment
I don't know if it is true, because I bougth others guitars by internet in USA ( gibson, fender and rodriguez classic ) and I don't had that problem.

I have not played this guitar for a real long time yet, but I have played long enough to realize that it is the best guitar that I have ever owned. I previously played a Martin D-16RGT, which is very similar to the D-28. And I must say that the D-16 is an excellent guitar, and I do not plan to get rid of mine. However the D-28 beats it in volume, resonance, and tone. It has more volume due to the deeper sound box, I believe, and its tone is very nicely balance and rich. Just as advertised it has a strong bass and a clear treble. It's resonance is astounding; It keeps ringing long after you hit the strings. I was going to get a different guitar, but I believe that the Lord led me to this one. I have no regrets about getting this guitar and I know that I'm going to get a lot of enjoyment from playing it!

This guitar has incredible clarity, tone, and volume. The neck is comfortable for someone of average sized hands. The tuning machines are smooth and good looking, the wood is beautiful. One of the finest guitars I've ever played.

There is one notable aesthetic drawback. The pure white boltaron binding really contrasts with the wood and just looks like cheap plastic. I don't know why Martin uses this stuff. Anyway, it can be dealt with. Shoe polish will permanently stain it. I used Kiwi Brown Shoe Polish, and it resulted in a nice mottled reddish brown. You would think it would wipe off, but it does not. It appears to penetrate the boltaron. The tan shoe polish does not work. Note that for some reason the heel cap takes up too much stain and looks quite reddish with this method.

There is nothing to dislike when it comes to a Martin Guitar. It's the end of the line, for an
acoustic guitar player's dream. I own 4 martin guitars and love them all, for Coastline Studios Ca.
    recording specialists.
