I've been using this power supply for a long time now and it has NEVER faltered once.
I bought it to power my (HD) car stereo indoors and it has worked perfectly for quite some time now!
I have never heard any sine wave noise or static, the power it provides is as clean as soap! This unit has been through storms, power outages and surges and still works like a champ. more than enough power for radios and small dc items. If I have a complaint its that I wish I would have gotten the next model up that comes with a "cigarette' lighter " for quicker hookups. If you have DC power needs, this is a great product for home use!

I bought this so that I could repair 12 volt electronic devices such as car stereos, 12 volt pumps, etc. in the comfort of my house rather than trying to fight with wiring harnesses in cars and boats. It works perfectly for this type of use. I like the on/off switch on the front. I can hook everything up, then power it up, ready to quickly turn it off if needed. It does not deliver a great deal of amperage, but to operate the water pump in my boat (for plumbing not cooling the engine) it at least had enough to let me know if was working or not after I repaired it. It certainly has enough power for most electronics. The wires that are supplied with it are good quality with alligator style clips. The terminals accommodate other "banana" style plugs if you have wires with those, or you can just tighten wire to the unit using the screw clamps.

I have a little AIYIMA tube preamp that uses 6J1 tubes. I kept thinking that the left side tube was going bad. So I kept rolling both tubes. Then I thought the left tubes on my "main" tube tube amp were going bad. Then I thought my rectifier had a bad side. Long story short, it was the wall wart they ship with the AIYIMA (and probably the other brands too). It was just picking up noise from my house wiring, or my router or something. I bought a pigtail that has the 5.1/2.5 that you need to plug into those little 12 volt tube preamps. Then to plug into the power supply, I just use plain old banana plugs. Works great! No more noise, and like other people have noticed - sounds better too. Sound stage is wider, bass better. Not sure if it's because those little tube preamps actually like 13.8 volts more than they like 12 volts. Or if 3 amps is better than 2 amps (like with the stock wall wart). Either way, the money was well spent. Not only is there no more strange noise, and better sound - but at idle, the tube amp preamp is now absolutely silent.

Perfect Replacement for Power Supply provided with Vonage adapter

For the past 3 years I have noticed a line noise in my home telephone system. I have 2 lines - one from Verizon (FIOS) and the other from Vonage (VOIP) delivered to 2 line phones. After a lot of trouble shooting, I isolated the problem to the Vonage power adapter. Upon researching vonage forum articles, I found a detailed description of a customer problem that was identical to mine - line noise that pervades both lines and progressively becomes worse. In my case it also damaged a couple of phones.

This P/S can be used with the Vonage adapter. All that is needed is the tip that connects to the vonage adapter, which you can safely get by cutting the vonage poser supply wire closer to the power supply adapter. Connect the cut end of the wire to the Pyramid PS3KX and attach the other the vonage device. Note that one of the wires has a white marking. This is the negative and should be connected to the black terminal. The black wire without any markings should be connected to the red terminal.

If the wires are reveresed, the vonage device will not start, and there is no damage done. Just reverse the wires and it should work. The result was music to my ears!

Of course Vonage will not accept the issue with their power supply, so they will not provide a replacement or a reimbursement towards this purchase. However, they will give you a credit towards the issue as the line noise prevents proper use of the vonage device.

This unit is a bit heavy and therfore not portable. However, in a home situation, this is not an issue as you may not have a need to move it around frequently. This device is worth every penny of its price.

The Pyramid 3-Amp 12-Volt Power Supply (PS3KX) is the least expensive 3A (2.5A) power supply I could find, and what I'm using it for, it works very well. I'm a radio collector and Amateur Radio Operator. I needed another power supply to work on some vinatge CB radios, and low power (10W or less) VHF/UHF equipment. For this purpose, the PS3KX is doing the job. It's small, lightweight, inexpenive, and is putting out the expected voltage. I really can't ask for anything else. If you're planning on using higher wattage transceivers though, this isn't the power supply for you. I would trust it up to 15-20W.

I ordered this PS to use with my Musical Fidelity V-DAC (v. 1). The product arrived perfectly, was in perfect condition and operated perfectly - no issues.

If you're thinking of doing the same thing with your DAC - read on:

I noticed the bass-performance gains and soundstage gains like others (impressive actually!), however I've decided to return this product due to a relatively aggressive roll-off of the high-frequencies vs. the stock MuFi wall-wart, which was surprising. The years and dollars I've spent in new equipment and tweaks trying to scavenge detail from my music and perfect my system's balance was un-done with this PS.

Only one other Amazon.com reviewer noted this reduction in high-frequencies as well and I certainly noticed this in my system. The bass & sound staging advancements were not enough to warrant a big reduction in HF detail. Based on everyone else's reviews I wasn't expecting any changes to the high frequencies - everyone just talked about bass and sound staging... mostly bass.

Being surprised that only one other user noted this HF roll-off, here's some detail of my equipment used, just for reference:
-Blue Circle PLC Thingee power conditioner
-NAD CD player
-Musical Fidelity V-DAC
-Bryston BP25 preamp
-Bryston 4BSST
-Dynaudio Audience 72 speakers
-various SignalCable cables

Perhaps if one's system is already quite bright, this HF roll-off might be just the ticket to sonic nirvana, but in my system this tilted the balance away from where I wanted it - making this tweak a backwards step for me. If you're happy with the high-freq performance of your gear, I wouldn't recommend this tweak.

Not a fault of the product at all - it's not designed exclusively for use with this DAC - again it did what it was supposed to do perfectly as a quality DC power supply.
