This was purchased at a very reasonable price, lower than the MSRP; however, I had to return it because it can be used only in a vehicle. The only complaint I have is that the merchant did not make this product clear as being an "auto use" only.The title does use the word "mobile," but I am a novice to such purchase and thought that meant the headphones could be carried around with you from place to place. It probably works fine, but I wanted it for home use only.

I bought these headphones so that I would not disturb others in adjacent apartments. They work very well. The infrared transimitter is not subject to radio frequency noise and therefore virtually noise free. As with others, my primary complaint is that no transformer comes with the unit. I found a transformer on Ebay for $10.00 shipping included. In addition, I had to buy heat shrink tubing, a soldering iron, solder and male plugs for the audio connection. Also I find the foam on the earpieces a little uncomfortable with extended use, but I'm having a quilter friend fabricate silk covers for them. Everything included, I would definitely buy these again. They are much more than adequate and deliver great clear sound.

These are decent headphones; a little on the dull side for my taste and the transmitter works fine (no, there is no power supply as it's meant for auto installation), but this is not the item shown. The units that are shipping are the old WH5s which have simply been relabeled WH6. I prefer the sound of the old WH6 phones (which are pictured), although they are not as sturdy as WH5s.

Because of an indoor portable air conditioner the volume had to be extremely loud in order to hear the TV. My TV has audio out RCA jacks so connection was easy. Any RCA red/white cable will work and if you are like me you have a few lying around since every device seems to come with them, you can also use the red/white/yellow cable, just leave the yellow disconnected.
For power you will need an adapter which costs a little over $5. Since the wires coming from the IR transmitter have bare ends you will need to spice the adapter to it or solder the connections. I used a little aluminum foil wrapped around the red wire end and fitted snugly into the positive part of the adapter, which is the middle hole. Then I carefully wrapped a little foil around the metal outside of the jack and the negative end of the wire from the transmitter and wrapped a thin piece of tape around that connection. MAKE SURE THAT NO FOIL TOUCHES BOTH CONNECTIONS, also the bare wires should not be in contact with eachother. I was able to neatly reinforce the connection with more tape and the transmitter works fine.
The sound quality is good and the headphones feel ok and do not hurt my ears. Works great for watching TV without disturbing others or in a noisy environment. I have ordered another pair so as to have 4 headsets and will connect the transmitter to one of my other TVs.

Crap. Absolute crap. Had the IR transmitter professionally installed into our existing overhead DVD player. It has power and the lights come on and the audio plug it is plugged into was verified that it works by testing it through the AUX IN in the dash. The IR transmitter wouldn't even work with the two sets of headphones that came with it, new batteries and all. And the headphones wouldn't work with the existing DVD player. I was looking to boost the IR signal from the DVD player as you have to sit directly in front of it for our kid's headphones to work, and sitting in the third seat means the headphones won't work at all. So when the new PYLE IR transmitter was connected, the IR from the existing DVD player was turned off so not to interfere with the new PLYE one. Still nothing. So I unplugged the PYLE IR transmitter hoping that at least the new PYLE headphones would work with my existing DVD player so it wouldn't be a total loss. But after I turned on the IR from the DVD player....nothing from the PYLE headphones. PYLE...appropriately named.

Works with my TV

I have a Samsung51" Class Plasma 720p 600Hz HDTV, PN51D430" with only a digital audio output option so I had to purchase a Orei DA34 Digital to Analog Audio Decoder to connect the TV to the Headset's IR transmitter RCA inputs. The room this TV is in has very high ceilings which create echo problems. I used an old 12VDC 200ma power supply to power the IR transmitter. Remember it was designed to wire into a car's electrical system. The first time I tried it we had just put up the Christmas tree and there was a lot of light in the room and I am not sure what else was going on but the unit performed poorly. I took the headsets down to our media room and they work very well with our old Thompson IR headset transmitter as long as I had the headsets set to receive on the "A" band. When the tree went down and I had some time to try again with the IR transmitter everything worked great. It works very well up to the 24ft distance specified and you can still hear thing at 31ft with some static. Once you have a clear view of the transmitter, the headsets on "A" band, and the position of the transmitter adjusted for your setup it works great.

The transmitter has to be wired to an alternate DC power source which isn't provided. Hopefully after getting it set up, they will be worth the hassle.

I got this to use in my home. Once i got the items needed to modify it worked great. It doesn't have much range so it you need to move around or have a big room you might need something else. Once you get the 12 volt dc converter from radio shack and male plugs to connect it to your tv if needed it worked great. I didn't solder anything just used wire connector caps to connect the lose wires after i stripped and connected them. Very easy adaptation definitely worth it just stay pretty close to your tv fuzzy sound if you don't.

Terrible product from the start. No where on the product description does this tell you it does not have a power supply nor does it have the normal male leads neededo to connect to a standard pc or audio port.

What's more I emailed Thompson direct asking for the correct parts and they said sorrybold listing to fix " just chop the end off an old Nokia chat and connect charger to the power supply" I bought solder iron for this to no avail... Don't know why this didn't work I've tried this sort of stuff before never had an issue with simple electrics...not sure if faulty product but was very cheap and flimsy... Can't send it back because it's no longer in original state and have spent money on solder iron and new cable to connect to audio port!

Lesson learnt! Don't make my mistake
