I have been having a check engine light issue for a few months now on my F150 and have replaced a ton of sensors and even the ECU but the light would still come on when I let my foot off the gas peddal at speed. I got lucky and found an article in the online F150 forum where other folks were having the same issue and found out that they changed this item and the problem stopped. I ordered the part and installed it and low and behold the issue went away. Mechanics will tell you that you never need to replace these things, but, when the carbon becomes so old and fouled up the issues begin. So..... Replace this item if you are having the same issues with your F150 4.9 liter. Very easy to install because it is right in the open and is held on by one screw. Unhook the hoses, unscrew the mounting screw then mount the new filter box and replace hoses. Start your truck and let it warm up before you drive it and then take it for a spin to test. Worked for me. Five stars!!!!
Works great, but... had to r&r the first one sent, as it burst the charcoal packet in shipping, leaving the black ash all over everything in the box with the canister. The second one came in a box by itself, and was fine. Bolted right up to the '97 Ford Ranger.
<rant>Ethanol in the gas is just bad news for older vehicles not designed for it. I've had to replace fuel pumps, evap emissions control valves and devices, fuel inlet hoses, gas caps, even entire pipe assemblies because the ethanol eats thru the normal rubber used in the last century :-) Let me have a choice in the fuel I buy, bring back REAL GAS</rant>
I would give it 5 stars, but the packaging was less than desirable. I opened the box and a cup of charcoal pellets when flying everywhere. There were no caps covering the holes, so I just reused the ones on the old one. It was quick to install with just a 8mm bolt/screw. The intake and outtake were the perfect size for the rubber hose lines.

Direct bolt on for my 95 F-150 5.0 v8. Works like it should, my old charcoal canister had caught fire at some point before I owned the truck and was creating a vacuum leak when the canister purge valve would activate. Motorcraft never fails me on good parts. Only critique is that the tracking info says it’s never been delivered and got lost in transit. No biggie, I still received it.
Error code P1443 in my 1996 Ford Ranger, 4 cylinder truck. Autozone gave me the reasons, either EVAP Pressure sensor, Blocked or leaky hose(s), or EVAP valve. I change all parts and checked the hoses and still the light came "on", but never realized that it was the Fuel Vapor Storage Canister- that's when the light went off and didn't came back "on." I should've taken the mechanic's advice and just replace all of the parts in a P1443 code, you'll save yourself a lot of head-aches. Brand spanking new part from AMAZON.
Vapor storage canister fit as expected... there are several varieties... make sure you order the proper one... there may be a number on the old one... It did not come with new caps... don’t lose your old ones... one screw holds it against the fender well
I had a code for the evap system for 2 years. The mechanics even said "don't bother with the canister they never go bad" I replaced all the sensors and hoses and still had the code. I bought this and installed. The code cleared on its own,
