Verified Purchase

No substitute. Converted mid-90s Fords that still have the gauge (you can do it pre 97, by shorting the resistor on the cluster for the oil gauge, after 96 the resistor is in the gauge) and it responds very well to changes in RPM, high on startup and acceleration, centered or lower at idle depending on the engine. The aftermarket ones just don't work right, or have slower response. The unit is engraved with US patent 4079351 and is great peace of mind for an older engine. Shame Ford took this away, the reason being customers complain about gauges that move. I guess they wouldn't want it in engines like the 5.4 with the VVT that suffer from low oil pressure.

It works.... Patent number is stamped on old pressure gauge to match the the one on the Motorcraft new part. Old cars from the 60-80's with not idiot light for low oil pressure....Only for Needle gauge showing the oil pressure...

Works for AMC's of the sixty and seventies, But this is a 1/4" NPT and you will need a adapter to 1/8" npt for this to fit. Yes wells makes one for my needs, but at sixty bucks it's not worth the forty Dollars more than this.

Had a low oil pressure reading in my 1987 Ford Pickup for a long time. Ordered the Motorcraft SW1547B Oil Pressure Switch. Was not the easiest part to change because of the location of switch on engine block. Now the switch is in my oil pressure is back up and getting a good reading. Amazon had switch at a good price and was delivered quickly.
