Fits 1996 Ford Explorer Rear Liftgate.

A plastic striker bushing on the liftgate (tailgate) of my '96 Ford Explorer broke into several pieces. Dorman came to the rescue with this inexpensive kit. It includes both liftgate bushings.

I didn't have a big enough Torx tool to remove the tailgate striker. So I used channel lock pliers instead. Not the ideal tool, but it got the job done. No strikers were harmed in the making of this repair.

Pros: Fits '96 Explorer. Low cost.
Cons: None. But keep in mind that a Torx tool is recommended for the installation.

Perfect tailgate striker fit for 9th gen F-150

The short bushings are a perfect fit for the strikers on a 1996 Ford F-150 tailgate. Installation recommendation: The striker can be removed with a star bit and a ratchet, however you should also remove the taillight so that you can hold the nut/plate that the striker screws into. If you don't hold onto that nut/plate, then it can fall down when you take out the striker. Get someone else to put their hand back there to hold it for you and save yourself some trouble.

The longer bushings do not work out of the box for a 1996 Fore F-150 front door striker. They're too thick. If you want to use these you'll need to grind them down A LOT. A better choice is to get some 1/2" PEX and cut it to length. Still five stars because it's not supposed to be used on the front doors.

As the title says. These are too large OD and ID for the tailgate striker, and too large OD for the door striker on my 95 F150. Also will not fit door strikers or rear lift fate for 1st/2nd gen Explorers or Rangers.

Did NOT fit my 98 Explorer

Cheap enough and easy to install but did NOT fit my 98 Ford Explorer, yes it did slide over the striker bolt and yes the length seemed ok but the thickness was too much, my door wouldn't close or latch, it just bounced back open. I could see the considerable thickness compared to the factory ones, so this was a no go for me.

I got these to replace the rotted out bushings on the side doors of my '97 Explorer, but the doors will not shut with these attached. They do work perfectly on the tailgate though to quite the rattle from the tailgate.

As for the side doors, go to a hardware store and pick up the smalled length 1/2" PEX tubing you can find and cut them down to size with a pipe cutter so that they fit the side door striking posts. I had to sandpaper the PEX tubing a little bit to make the outer diameter a little thinner, but once I did, the doors closed and all the rattle from the doors when hitting bumps and dips completely disappeared. It typically comes in blue, red, and white colors.

Fits old 1999 Mercury Mountaineer Hatch

I have searched auto parts stores, Ford dealerships, and junk yards for the rear hatch bushings for my 1999 Mercury Mountaineer.. No one had any and I was told I could not buy one anywhere.. They had already been removed from all in the junk yard. I remember being told that a Mountaineer was just a truck with a different body. Even Amazon said it did not fit my vehicle. I took my calipers and compared the dimensions of my new bushing to my only good one on the Mountaineer. The dimensions were an exact match within a few thousandths of an inch. I put the new one on and it worked!!!!! Now I can open and close the hatch again!!!!! This deserves more that 5 stars for me!

Perfect fit for '87 Bronco II liftgate latch studs

I split the nylon sleeve off a liftgate latch stud due to wear and found that these are a perfect replacement! I used electrical tape as a temp fix to keep it closed; it also gave the penetrating oil a bit more time to work. The stud goes into a captive nut, however the captive nut plate is only held in place with raised sheetmetal tabs that will deform unless the threads are clean. Remove the taillights and you can chase the exposed threads with a die, hit it with penetrating oil, and the stud should come out fairly easy. I was able to realign the studs (after taking a grinder to the hole a bit) so the gate now closes like a dream. No more slamming!
