Over 17 years old and still going strong!
My husband saw some wild "Will it blend?" videos and immediately wanted a Blendtec. I was skeptical but here we are over 17 years later and it's still amazing. There are so many jar variations now, our favorite is the Wildside. I've used it for smoothies, hot chocolate, hot soups. milkshakes, hummus, blender pancakes and so much more.

I must give you a little bit of history before reviewing the Blendtec . . .
Our local Costco was having a Vita-Mix road show and i bought it knowing that I really liked everything I had ever read about a Blendtec. A couple of my friends raved about the Vita-Mix, so I felt I needed to pay a little attention. A large purchase like this deserved a little research so that I wouldn't have any regrets. I watched the demo, was impressed and took home the Vita-Mix that day. I was anxious to make a smoothie with it because I had been using the Magic Bullet for five months. I made my first smoothie with it, and it turned out great but the "honeymon" didn't last very long. I did not like the sheer size of the Vita-Mix! It sat VERY high on my counter, wouldn't fit under the cabinet and it looked like it belonged in a commercial-sized kitchen, not mine. I absolutely disliked everything about the lid, except the ability to drizzle liquids in from the opening. The lid was not easy to put on nor remove. And the tamper!!! A good machine should not require a tamper to push the food around. The blender canister has these decorative grooves on the sides and oh what difficulty to "get every last bit out" with a a rubber scraper. I felt like I was wasting food! Then, I made a vegetable pate and the 4-pronged blade made it extremely difficult to get the food hiding below the blade. By this time, I had had enough and was only too happy to take it back to Costco.

That same night, I ordered my Blendtec. It arrived promptly and have LOVED everything about it since Day One! It is so-o-o-o easy to "get every last bit out" because the sides of the blender doesn't have the unnecessary decorative grooves on the side. It makes a big difference if you're the type that doesn't like to waste. I feel that the Vita-Mix and Blendtec are equally noisy, but it does its job so quickly and efficiently that it really isn't on for very long. It is so efficient and powerful that it doesn't need a silly tamper to get everything blended well. It fits under my cabinet where I like to keep it and it is just perfect in every way. I make whole fruit and/or leafy green smoothies, sometimes twice a day, and it's always smooth and perfectly blended. As long as you add the proper amount of liquid, that "vortex" forms and everything gets pulled downwards. Everything i make just comes out absolutely perfect. I just can't say enough good things about this machine.

I waited to review this because I wanted to really check out all of its’ functions. I am SO pleased! This is a great appliance at a much lower cost than a VitaMix, which was what I originally wanted. Is it loud? Yup, but I don’t care, it’s a high quality, excellent blender. So happy I bought this, it’s awesome. Blades blend everything smoothly and quickly, breaks down ice, don’t have to hold it down the base is heavy and level, the seal on the lid doesn’t allow any liquid to spill over. A truly Total Blender

The Blendtec Total Blender really does it all. You’ve probably seen the unique square jar design before, but until you use it you won’t know the power of the blending vortex that the shape creates.

The power

The flat panel design is easy to wipe off when there are any spills on the base. There are no buttons for small scraps to lodge under.

Drawbacks

By far the biggest issue consumers have with the Blendtec Total Blender is that it is loud. Of course with all of the power it has, it’s essentially unavoidable, still, it’s important to be aware of this before buying. Especially if you plan on using it while people sleep.

Another complaint is that the base is heavy when compared to a conventional blender. This is also unavoidable, to house such a powerful motor, and be safe to use, the 5.6 pounds of metal and quality material is a necessity.

One other thing that some purchasers notice is the inevitable scratching inside the jar. Because it’s plastic, this will happen over time. The scratches won’t be deep, and the jar will still clean just fine, it’s mostly an aesthetic consideration. The only way to avoid this is with a glass jar, but glass is actually less durable and there are no good high-performance blenders that offer it.

The Total Blender comes with the “WildSide Jar” which gives it its unique blending vortex. It also includes the Twister jar which allows you to scrape the sides with a twist of the lid while blending – an important feature when making something sticky like homemade peanut butter. It’s also great for individual servings. For sticking in the WildSide Jar, the included Spectacula Spatula is designed especially for the Total Blender.

The Fresh Blends Cookbook features over 200 pages of recipes so you’ll never run out of ideas for great, healthy meals and snacks. And of course, the Blendtec comes standard with a manufacturer 8 year limited warranty, a welcome reassurance after making a significant investment in a high-performance blender.

Arrived within two days , perfect condition and my cute red I love. Blends like a dream I am having so much fun. This is a dream machine especially for smoothies and soups whoa. I only wish that to make almond butter you did not need the twisty jar accessory or that maybe it was included with the classic. Best blender I have ever owned!

I am so happy with this Blentec blenter. My wife and I had been looking for a replacement (and improvement) for my Oyster blender (6 years old) for quick sometimes and were saving for a Vitamix pro 750 until one of my friends showed me the 'will it blend' videos. The guy was using a Blentec blender and it was quite impressive. Amazon had this Blentec TB-621-20 on promo during Boxing Day 2016 and that' s all we needed to make this investment.

Pros:
- powerful engine
- blends everything (so far)
- awesome built quality
- the jar design (square) makes it easy to pour and clean
- the preset modes handle your desired blend mode (try the soup mode, you will be amazed)

Cons
- a bit noisy, especially with frozen fruits or veggs
- the absence of recipe book (my friend got one with his Vitamix and I have been using his recipes)
- would have been nice if it came with a mixing temper (for a machine worth over $700 it should be included)

We could not be happier, this blender is a real powerhouse!! So far we have used it 30+ times making morning shakes, smoothies, frozen drinks, and soups. No matter what we throw at it, the results are always spectacular. Kale (comes out super smooth), raw carrots (blend in seconds), frozen blackberries (can hardly feel the seeds), ...

This was such a fabulous deal on a lightning sale just when we needed to replace. I had been borrowing a friend’s vitamix for a school based breakfast program and was totally sold on an up scale from my little oster.
I remembered the blendtec from Costco and phoned my hubby at work- he said buy it ( he’s a chef) an didn’t hesitate.
Came fast, bought the warranty too.
Playtime!! Wow! This thing is incredible- multiple push button settings, each with a preset mixing regime ie. smoothie- goes medium for 20 seconds, then kicks into high gear, slows down, then back up- machine does all the thinking for you.
Came with a little recipe book too.
To clean I just put some warm water -1/2 ish- and 1 drop of soap, DONT USE MORE!!
Blend and rinse. All clean!
