Great Flashlight! Use Maglite's for work all the time! They work great and take a huge beating! I drop them hard all the time and from huge heights. I also use them like a hammer practically and bang the heck out of them and they don't ever break. Batteries last a decent amount of time. I dont really ever gauge the lifetime of the batteries since I dont buy them. I get them free from work. But they last a pretty long time. Flashlight goes super far and is pretty bright. If it's super dark. It can go a pretty long distance. I'm certain there is much better flashlights out there. Such as streamlights or other stuff. However... If You get free batteries like me... Or want something that will never break... Or go out of fashion. To use as an emergency flashlight. This is pretty darn good. And none of those fancy flashlights can beat this one (For the Price). Having a conventional flashlight with replaceable batteries is pretty good. Cause D size batteries are great for long lasting use. And You wont have to worry about having to replace/purchase those expensive Rechargeable batteries that other flashlights come with for this flashlight. Also pretty handy to have for self defense, in the unfortunate event that You have to wack someone with it to defend yourself. Amazon sells this at a decent price too. Not too bad. These flashlights also have lifetime warranty too. They are nearly indestructible. By regular force or beating or dropping. However, I did manage to break one by accident,. Actually it didn't break, crushed would be a better word. I work in the railroad industry and I accidentally left this flashlight a little too close to the railroad tracks and the disc/spoke crushed it and bent it. Physically crushed from all the weight of a train on top of it. The battery lid would no longer unscrew. My co-worker who lives in Ontario,(which is where the Mag-Lite Factory is located) took it right into the shop and they replaced it for him free of charge. No questions asked. So overall I am very pleased with this flashlight! I own 3 and I also bought this one for My Girlfriend. And she loves it too!

Unless You want a super fancy Nasa type flashlight or something.
For the price though, I really don't think You can go wrong with this flashlight!
