    I bought these tongs for my boyfriend mostly because I was tired of having to hold my cell phone or a flashlight over the grill when we grilled at night. Let me tell you...they are so great! He loves how sturdy they are and likes the length even though they are bigger than his old ones (I saw a few other reviewers felt the length was a bit of a problem). The light is also pretty bright and covered a larger area than we thought they would. The light housing is very easy to remove so that the tongs can be washed or used during the day. I will most likely be purchasing another pair for my brother who could not get over what a cool idea these were. He definitely had one of those "why didn't I think of that?!" moments!

    The tongs seem to be well made and the LED light works well. The only negative is that if you place your grip too high on the tongs they will pinch your hand. I have to remember to adjust my grip. Also the instructions don't mention that the light can't get wet. So you have to remove the light before washing or the internal electronics will start to corrode.

    I like this product because of the length , it gets my hands away from the flame. It is very sturdy, not like some of the others that when you pick up a Tri Tip rack of ribs or a brisket it does not twist or buckle. It has a good back bone to handle the weight I have purchased three and gave one to a close friend as a gift and when these wear out I'll buy new one's they are that reliable.

    I was brought here thanks to the blog "The Worst Things For Sale". Why the author thought someone would never need light while barbecuing or would need to "reexamine their life" says to me that he has never spent summers in Wisconsin. Here, we party on long September summer days where it gets dark by 7 pm. We enjoy the dock, skiing, the lake and sun until the last minute, and for my wonderful chef of a mother, who spends an hour at least prepping the foods we are about to eat- marinating or forming the burgers, she found that these tongs are incredibly helpful. Attaching a light to a grill is generally just not a good idea. Having to wear a headlamp can be cumbersome too- she's already carrying out the plates of meat and veggies, wine, and her utensils and digging out the extra item when time is of the essence isn't as great as having the flashlight tool directly attached to her tongs. This was a great gift and she loved it. She's into gadgets so removing the flashlight before washing isn't beyond her abilities.
