They are easy to use, and customers consider them good value for money. The snap ring grip and fit receive mixed feedback - while some say they grab and remove snap rings easily, others report issues with tips not fitting smaller snap rings, and while some praise the fit, others find them too large for most snap rings.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2011Ok, so I'm not snapping rings onto widgets and doohickeys, but I'll tell you what these are really great for. The rear sight of a PTR 91, that's what. Buy these at about 1/10 the cost of the US made rear sight adjustment tool and you won't be disappointed.
The nubs on the end of these pliers fit snug into the engagement slots and bingo, you can easily change the elevation in the field or at the range. I chose these instead of the internal snap ring pliers for two reasons... one I have actually applied and removed snap rings in the past with a screwdriver and lots of futzing around and thought these would be more useful because I've really only encountered external snap rings, in the rare instances I've had to deal with these; and two, I thought the design would work better for engaging the locking tabs of the sight.
Honestly the internal ring pliers would probably also work for the sight, but I KNOW that these work, so I am very pleased at saving lots of money (I think the HK tool costs about $70).
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2016I have a set of Harbor Freight snap ring pliers that cover most of the snap rings I use, but I have a couple of wood turning chucks that use larger o-rings that have to be removed before I can take the chucks apart. So I got on Amazon to see what they had and I found the TEKTON 3547 7-Inch External Snap Ring Pliers. I decided to try them out so I placed my order and withing a couple of days I was out in my work shop using them. The pins fit perfectly into the snap rings and made it easy to get them off of my chucks. The build quality of the tool is really good and I expect the tool to last long enough for my great grandchildren to use it 100 years from now. It's a very specific tool and doesn't get used much in my shop, but when I need it it works great.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2017I used these to rebuild one of my Miata's rear brake calipers, and they work exactly like they should.
They're easy to use, grab the snap ring perfectly, and hold onto them perfectly.
ONLY THING TO NOTE!
If you're wanting these for rebuilding brake calipers, I'd recommend you get the ones with the handles that bend perpendicular to the action, because it'll be WAY easier to see into the piston to seat your snap ring. These suffice too, don't get me wrong, they're just not quite as convenient.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2018Learned there are 2 types of Retaining Clips.
An External Snap Ring means the tool has to spread it open.
An Internal Snap Ring means the tool has to squeeze it closed.
Have already purchased the tool I need and will not bother trying to return this one.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2017Once again, after reading tons of reviews on retaining ring pliers, I chose Tekton.
I do not use retaining ring pliers on a daily basis so I was trying to balance quality and cost.
I have used them for large retaining rings on construction equipment and they have performed flawlessly! These have already saved me hours based on my prior attempts to remove the rings using creative but ineffective methods.
These have a Lifetime Warranty so there was not much risk in choosing these.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2018The product is fine, but nothing in the description mentioned the tip size (.070"). I didn't know tip size was even a variable to consider, but the tool has arrived and it's too large for the ring I need to remove. Prior to buying, I looked at multiple tools, and none mentioned tip size, so I concluded that there was one uniform size. Clearly, I was wrong. But that needs to be specified in the item description.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2014I didn't know what to expect from super cheap snap ring pliers. Also, I don't exactly know how to rate them since they were useless to me.
The tips aren't the same length. If I keep it I may put it on a grinder and make them the same. The package says they accommodate a range of 3/4" to 2 1/2". I'm not sure whether that's supposed to mean the diameter of the snap ring or the diameter of the shaft or the range of opening of the pliers. The plier opening is from about 1/4" closed to 1 1/2". This means you can open snap rings whose holes are a little more than 1/4 inch to about 1 /1/4" apart when closed/installed, but if the holes are 1/4" apart they will be too small to accept the tips. The reason I say 1 1/4" instead of the full 1 1/2" is because you need some extra opening to expand the ring to remove or install it. I'm guessing that's about 1/4", it may require more, I don't have any large snap rings so I can't know for sure.
These pliers did not work for me. I had the same problem as Joe T. The tips (.07, 1/16") were too large for the holes in the snap ring I bought them for. This isn't a fault in the pliers, but I had only seen pictures of my snap ring and had no way to know what size it was until I disassembled the appliance. The point is, these are not for small snap rings.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2016I had to replace an AC Compressor Clutch and Pulley Assembly in a 2005 Jeep Liberty Limited 4x4. There are 2 snap rings that are involved in this procedure. For some reason, these pliers worked out perfect! They appear to be very well made and the spacing on the tips and the bent tip just seemed to be perfect for the job. They worked really well. I highly recommend these.

terrific quality tool for the price. For as often as you actually need to use snap ring pliers, these are worth every penny and then some.

These worked pretty well. The ends were a bit too large for the rings I bought them for but I was able to file them down enough to make it work.
