Great book and the book was delivered on time and the packaging protected the book during shipping. I left my first copy with a friend and had to buy it again. The book has a lot of good information and provides recipes to help you change your eating habits. This is not a quick fix and requires effort to change the way you prepare meals, but the effort is worth it for your long term health.

This is an excellent book all the way around. I lift weights, run, and do the elliptical. This diet provided me with an immediate increase in energy coupled with loss of fat. I also loss my general taste for coffee and was able to decrease my caffeine intake with barely any effort at all due to the increased energy I felt from this diet. For those who excercise an hour or less per session to those training for triathalons, this is a great read.

Brazier's is a well-written informative book. The proof, as they say, is in the pudding (in this case a delicious banana recovery pudding). I have gradually been working the the thrive diet principles(and recipes) into my daily diet and have seen noticeable improvements in a matter of weeks. I am consuming a fraction of the tofu and other soy products than I used to, feel less hungry in general, and have seen a significant reduction in cravings for sweet processed sugary foods. Most of the recipes I have tried are surprisingly delicious.

I would give the book 4 and a half stars if I could. The only small quibbles I have is that:
- the recipes are not that well organized, and it can be frustrating to find the section you need,
-some of the quantities in the recipes need to be double-checked or adjusted (eg. tsp vs tbsp.),
-guidelines on adjusting the diet for those who are less athletically inclined are lacking-this diet seem to be vary high in nuts/oils and heavy on the omega fatty acids.

Overall, though, these are minor issue and I strongly recommend it to everyone who want so improves their well-being.

This book clearly describes the benefits of a plant based diet and details each food and its nutritional qualities. I feel better than ever by following this diet. If you want to lose weight, have more energy, sleep better, be in a better mental place and reduce stress, read this book and adopt a diet like the one described in The Thrive Diet.

Brendan Brazier claimed on Twitter that he is not a scientist, and that his Thrive Diet formula is just what worked for him. Kind of hard to take it too seriously after knowing that. He is not a nutritionist or a scientist; he is a vegan athlete. If you are considering a plant-based or mostly plant-based diet while working out, this book will still benefit you. There is a lot of helpful information.

One complaint I do have is that about two-thirds of the ingredients he lists are unavailable where I live or within a thousand kilometres of where I live. Hemp oil, pumpkin seed oil, etc. A lot of it is overly expensive or just inaccessible to most people. I would have liked an alternative batch of ingredients that might have worked out similarly or "second-best" ingredients for those of us who can't afford his lifestyle or who live in the heart of Colombia.

I also find his "fatlogic" claim that using up more calories than one consumes does not necessarily make them lose weight more than dubious. I'm pretty sure simple math and science have already proved him wrong on that one.

Otherwise, it's interesting and if you take in aspects of the diet step by step you will notice an increase in energy, decrease in lethargy, and an overall better lifestyle.

It can be overwhelming how many books there are about nutrition. I read a lot of books on the subject, and this is a winner! So much information that is backed by credited researchers. The explanations of how the food processes certain types of food makes you WANT to NOT eat processed food, fast food, etc. A must read!

5.0 out of 5 stars New (to me) eating concept

Changing my eating habits of late to more of a plant food based diet although I do still eat a bit of meat but more fish. Not a complete convert yet but getting there! Was recommended by my vegan friend, flicked through it on arrival and it looked interesting. Then my friend 'borrowed' it before I had a chance and haven't seen it since, so it must be good as she is a fussy friend - in the nicest possible way! Good daily eating plans not your fancy dinner party once in a while fare. So v practical. Well packaged and prompt arrival.

I liked it- a lot of information, but be aware- the book is written by a Canadian author and the resources and recommendations are for North Americans! In Europe there is equivalents for many North American essentials- as for example I have to order TRX from the US. I am not talking even about supplements! But it is a good book with tons of info, very well structured, well written.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, motivating and lots to learn

Although its a bit too focused on organic eating, which i dont think is always necessary, this book is great! If you are trying to lose weight or just eat healthier, its a great read to learn some basics. I think making such a drastic diet and lifestyle change is quite difficult and sometimes destined to fail, but there are great basics you can take from this book and integrate into your eating routine!

5.0 out of 5 stars Go Vegan!
Reviewed in Canada on January 14, 2009
When I first wanted to go vegan I wasn't too sure how to go about it while ensuring that I get all the required nutrients. The Thrive Diet changed my life for the better by informing me clearly and simply about what I needed to maintain a balanced diet. I was also able to learn about raw foods and their digestibility.

This book provides you with a 12-week meal plan to get you started off, as well as some excellent exercise complimentary snacks. I never thought that going vegan could be this simple and I was able to gain a lot of insight about the importance of our food choices and their impact on all aspects of our lives.

One of the most important topics the author discusses is that of stress and I can tell you from experience that applying the Thrive Diet to your life does alleviate a lot of stress in your body and mind. I have never felt so great in my life and I am not an athlete. I do moderate physical activity and I do see the enormous impact this diet has had on my life.

The Thrive Diet is not so much of a diet as it is a way of life. It's a must-read for anyone looking for self-improvement, stress relief and a healthier life.
