    This is exactly the little tool I was looking for to keep handy when we travel. It can charge my phones nicely. We have two Nokia 5800 XM smartphones and they charge nicely. The vendor was very prompt with email queries as well as shipping.

    The manufacturer was also very prompt in replying to my query and sending me the right adapter for my phone. The adapter is free.

    The charger works great. When I ordered it, I did not know that it doubles as a flashlight. I do recommend this as a must have item for anyone that has a pda or phone, its nice to know you can surf the net or play without running out of power. The only drawback is the mini usb adapter, I broke one and need to order more. This is a good product.

    I bought this because I was going to an area where I might not be able to charge my phone, but might have wifi.

    It died almost every time I tried to use it without contributing much to my phone's charge. It said it was useful with Samsung phones, but did not work with my galaxy so I have to buy an adapter. I went thru a lot of batteries, which when I checked when I go home, were ok.

    Does it charge a cellphone? Yes. Fully? Not really.
    I tested it out before I went on a week long campout. My VX6800 was 30% charged, so i plugged in the mini USB and the charge light came on. The three blue lights onthe charger lit as well and i left it for awhile to let it charge up. After a while (oh 15-20mins. I'd say) the charge light on my phone went green and only 1 light was left on the charger. I looked and then phone said 100% charged. Yippie! However, after i set the phone down (off) and needed to use use it i noticed it was at 70% without using it!

    Also, when I turned on the charger it showed three lights again with the same AA's in it. Plug it back in and it will go down to 2 or 1 light. Flashlight feature works pretty good for a secondary function. The switch is very easy to slide accidentaly in a pack, so store with the batteries out! (or slide a sliver of wax paper between the battery and spring to save space)

    I think this product should be used with the mindset that in an emergency when extreamly low on a charge (below 40% or so) this will get you a bit of a charge to get you by. By no means will this "top-off" your battery to 100%.

    ****UPDATE****************
    After using it for summer camp and making the review above, I have not used it again. The switch EASILY gets slid and I ended up with dead, corroding batteries when i got in for my next campout. I could of cleaned it up and tried it again, but I didn't bother. What does that tell you?

    This is actually a great idea and it does work. However there are a few things you need to know before you buy. It is advertised as compatible with all major cell phones. The actual charger is a generic battery operated "thing". The problem is, it comes with a couple of adapters and they DO NOT fit all cell phones. Chances are you will have to get an adapter specific to your phone. Communications with this company is not easy( AMAZON is no help with third-party sellers). With effort you need to navigate through their website , find the long list of possible adapters , none of which are identified for a particular phone model.( I have a Samsung Walkman which takes a TA112 adapter.) Then you need to contact the company; I left two phone messages, they never got back to me, and it took three e-mails to find out which one fits the phone. They are "free" with a $1.99 shipping charge - no big deal. The adapter I needed took a week to get to me. If you have the patience It winds up being useful to have one. Unfortunately the whole process took so long, I didn't have it in time for the trip I was planning. IF you do order , ORDER EARLY!!!!

    Battery life has been called the Achilles' heel of smartphones, and this product is a must-have for anyone who travels with one. I have used this charger with three different smartphones and it has saved my rear-end on numerous occasions, most notably when I burn off my battery using GPS maps to get around in unfamiliar cities. It is quite compact and easy to toss into your jacket pocket or man-purse. The single drawback I can think of is that the charger really seems to need pricey lithium AAs to fully charge a power-hungry device like a smartphone. There are some similar products that use 4 AAs which will probably work with regular alkaline batteries, but they will also be bulkier.

    When I got my most recent phone, I needed a new micro-USB adapter for the charger and was preparing to be gouged, but it only cost me a very reasonable $1.99 including shipping. Overall, I have found this product to be a huge win.
