- Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2016Amazing stuff. I have a Sansui 210 receiver that I got when I was in college 43 years ago. The unit still plays beautifully but the volume control was scratchy. It is a coupled control so it operates both the left and right speakers at once. I was able to find on the Amazon reviews that this was what I need, the stuff that isn't oily and doesn't leave too much of a residual mess. I found a YouTube video of someone fixing this problem on the same receiver as mine so I just did it the same way. Opening the back of a 4-decade old receiver and sliding the case off was a little scary but it did reveal the back of the volume switch that needed work. A few squirts on both the left and the right controls and turning the switch a few times did the trick. Magical. There is absolutely no sound that shouldn't be there now. Not even the slightest scratchy noice. It no longer cuts out on the left side which I had the most issues. You don't need much but you do need it. It works great and now the unit is perfectly good.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2013Although not cheap, the product works magic for vintage electronics, quieting pots, and cleaning contacts. There is a brush-on product also. I put it on an old brass lamp light socket. The brass was corroded, and lights screwed into base would "flicker" due to lack of conductivity. This product fixed that problem. I have also used the brush-on product (deoxit 100%) in motor points. It cleaned up, and made those work well too. Good stuff.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2017I don't know what this stuff is or how it works, and I don't care. It's nothing short of magic. I've squirted it in 60 year old pots that didn't even work anymore except to make loud crackling noises, and after a squirt and a few turns back and forth, they came back to life like nothing had ever been wrong. In less filthy pots, it's like they're brand new again. If it wasn't so expensive I'd buy it by the ammo pack and give it away to all my friends (who would be completely baffled and have no use for it), just because I love it so much. Sometimes I'll spray a little into newish pots that don't have any issues yet just in hopes to stave off any later contamination. Especially in guitars that may have some fine particulate sawdust inside that can cause some scratchiness, this is a good way to stave that off. Nobody likes that muffled roar of a scratchy pot in a loud guitar amp. As soon as this little bottle runs out, I'll probably upgrade to the large size.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2017I've been a technician for over 35 years. I used a product called "Cramolin" until it was discontinued. Then I began using Caig's DeoxIT D5. It works great. There's always a debate about how effective these products are, but I've seen the results when using this. In one case the positioning display for a very precise positioning chair for proton cancer treatment was extremely erratic. Using a temporary test cable run across the floor gave a solid and stable reading. I treated all of the cable connectors with D5, and reassembled. After that, the display was solid and stable. I left that company more than 18 months later, with no further issues reported with that system.
Having a nice small D5 in a pocket of my toolbag is a very good thing.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2015If you have some older electrical contact points that need cleaning, this will do the trick nicely. In my case, I have a 15-year old amplifier that, while taken care of, has accumulated 15 years of dust and some oxidation on its many rear plugs. A little spray of this fluid, a few seconds of soak in time, and then just the slightest amount of rubbing with a clean cloth and some Q-tips, and the plugs look like new. Because this build up is non-conductive, it can hamper sound quality, even if you are using the most expensive cables you can buy. This is a great way to restore those contacts to "like new" condition, and to coat them with a protective layer that should help prevent the oxidation process from starting again. This particular bottle is small, so it's good if you are using it on just a couple of devices. It contains plenty of fluid to handle the contacts on a couple of devices when used properly. Highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2016Unbelievable product! After years on the shelf, fired-up my precious first real amplifier, which I purchased as a boy 47 years ago, and sadly, the volume control crackled and cutout horribly. Did some research and ran across DeoxIT. Carefully removed the case, which had never been opened, found an opening in each pot to spray into, and gave each one a tiny shot. Worked the controls at little and reassembled. Hooked it up and nothing short of a miracle; no crackling, cutouts, etc.; all controls worked smoothly and quietly. DeoxIT is a wonder drug for amplifiers!
Once again... Decided to get back into vinyl so purchased a turntable. Who'd guess my fancy tube amplifier didn't have a phono stage (an outboard's coming). So out with my trusty boyhood amplifier (integrated). Thought the turntable had a bad channel, but it turned-out to be the amplifier's selector switch. Case off, shot of DeoxIT, work the control, and back together again. Problem solved!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2011I wanted to use this on potentiometer on my marshall amp because it is the older model valvestates, and the use metal pots instead of plastic pots. Has (HAD) one really bad bot, scratchy as hell, applied some, or, sprayed in the hole in the back, moved it for bout 2-3 mins. good as new, and absolutely NO scratching. Tried it on pots on my bass too, not only insdide pot, but if the solder joints are rusted, spray on the surface area, it bubles awy the rust. NEVER BEEN MORE SATISFIED! LITTLE GOES LONG WAY!

Deoxit by CAIG Labs shows a wonderful and immediate effect by cleaning and re vitalizing almost all electrical contacts. It seems great for cleaning audio and video contacts and input terminals as well, with noticeable difference particularly on audio side, Though I'm yet to ascertain the longevity of the cleaning effect and the side effects of abrasiveness caused to the delicate switching contacts by such cleaning , for the moment, yes it acts as an steroid. Nevertheless, this is the only remedy....
