This DVD is touted as unrated but is just a rehash of the on air presentation. Curses are bleeped and naughty bits are pixelated. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS.

Wow...For someone who had never seen Season 1 when it originally aired, this DVD was all I could ask for and more! Although I read some complaints about the censoring on the nudity and profanity, I personally felt that it didn't detract from the experience. It's VH1, people, not HBO! The extras were fun too, especially the dirty phone calls (which were NOT censored) and the ridiculous food-fight. Maybe I have such a positive viewpoint because this was my first time watching the season, but I really couldn't find anything negative to say. From the very first episode which coined the infamous phrase "Don't threaten me with a good time" to the shocking reunion, I was completely entertained. I finished this DVD within 3 days, and have since lent it to my sisters to enjoy. This is coming from someone who had NO interest in seeing this show when it originally aired; watching the season from start to finish convinced me otherwise! Now I can't wait for the release of Season 2!!!

I first watched this on VH1 when I just stumbled upon it while channel surfing and the second episode was on. For whatever reason, I was hooked right away! I ended up watching re-runs of the first episode to see what I missed, and tuned in for every single episode thereafter.

I was in high school when Poison was at the peak of their career and, although I did listen to some of their songs, I wasn't exactly a "die hard" Poison fan. I didn't hate 'em or anything, I just didn't get what the big deal was about big-haired, pink lipstick wearing Bret Michaels - LOL. But this reality series shows different sides of him, and very different fans (as well as girls on the show who weren't fans as they never even heard his music).

Now I certainly don't believe the entire series was "unscripted" at all. I didn't think Bret would find his one true love using this "method" either. But it WAS just fun to watch! Seeing these girls compete in various challenges for dates was quite entertaining. At the same time, I don't believe the entire series WAS "scripted" either. The girls competing to win had numerous ups & downs and I do think a few of them were sincere and, when stuff got to them, their tears were real. I could only imagine what living in that house was like... and I must admit that I don't think some of these women had enough talent to pull off "acting" throughout the series anyway. Not trying to put them down, I'm just saying I think certain ones weren't crying or fighting "for the cameras" only.

You see girls who obviously truly like Bret and want to be with him and I do believe he DID make a connection with some of them (though not enough to turn their relationship into a marriage or even long term boyfriend/girlfriend committment).

So, I'm one of those people who bemoans the decline of popular entertainment, and gets all shirty about the state of Hollywood today.

That said? The first season of Rock of Love is all sorts of awesome.

All the Lacey-gates, Jes being totally cool, and Heather. Oh, Heather. We loved ye, we lost ye.

I'll admit it now: I am buyin' this sucker, and I'm gonna marathon it, perhaps while wearing my finest in trashy outfits.

Well played, VH1. You win this round.

I obtained this because this was a free download on TiVo from Amazon.com. I was unaware that they would keep track of such information and was finally able to delete the history after some painstakingly steps to do so.

So far there have been 2 seasons of Rock of Love with Bret Michaels.
As we get ready for January 2009 when season 3 will air we can right now enjoy season 1 on DVD.

One of my favorite, if not my favorite, VH-1 shows.

Good to have all the episodes plus the reunion show.
I liked several of the women: Cindy (Rodeo), Jess, Heather & Magnalena.

FLAW IN DVD PACKAGE-IT IS 1 OF THE PACKAGES WHERE YOU CAN NOT SIMPLY PULL THE DVD CASES OUT, YOU HAVE TO UNNECESSARILY OPEN THE OTHER SIDE. HATE THESE, WHOEVER DESIGNED THEM.... WHY DID YOU DO THIS?

Course, you would expect NOTHING would be cut out, get an uncut version, but IT IS A SHAME THIS DID NOT HAPPEN.

I loved the show when it was on originally. I think this season was the most genuine with the girls. Obviously the fact that a bunch of women fighting over a man is hilarious and impractical. The only upsetting thing to me was that Bret wasn't able to watch the film of the girls during the season while he wasn't around because if he had seen the film, he definitely would have sent home different girls. Other than that, this show was laid over very well. Pardon the pun.
