I've been looking for a good loose-leaf green tea. This is a great deal for organic loose-leaf. Great taste, nice and smooth. I drink about a liter of this each day with a little honey. My new go-to morning drink!

I usually have a friend send my sencha from Japan but I was out and thought I'd try this stuff. Plus I was attracted to the fact that it was organic and reasonably priced and the reviews were mostly positive. However it has proved to be a disappointment.

The tea has rough unpleasant smell but otherwise has little flavor. The leaves are large and coarse with some stems. The Japanese sencha I usually drink is either a store brand or whatever my friend finds on sale so I'm not necessarily used to drinking the best stuff but this is just bad. It is reminiscent of some other green tea I've purchased in large faded dusty boxes with no use by date, at small Asian markets in the US.

The package I received was dated for use by 2017, which seemed like kind of a long time for green tea. But I doubt that it will make any difference for this stuff to sit around a while.

I tried preparing the tea several different ways, including using 170 degree water and steeping for 2+ minutes, as the label suggested, but nothing made much difference except in the strength of the infusion.

If you have purchased this tea and also find it unpalatable, I would suggest roasting it like you would roast regular sencha that has gotten too old and make something more like Hojicha. I put some of mine in a skillet at med-high heat until that harsh smell went away and it started smelling a little toasty. After that treatment it tasted ok but still didn't have much flavor.

I make my tea as a cold brew. I add a little fresh ginger and it makes a great brew cold

Excellent taste!

My first step into the tea world with Sencha was a good one. I enjoyed the flavor of this tea, but it's not quite as 'Tasty' as some of the other alternatives i've tried out. Still, For 1lb at the price that it is, it's nice.

Four stars because the flavor seemed a bit... Bland to me in comparison. It was still enjoyable, however!

Second time I've ordered this product from Frontier, the first pack lasted me about 2 yrs! I've also ordered chamomile tea, as well as cinnamon from Frontier (all organic), I have enjoyed their products fine thus far. :)

I decided to try this bc of some of the positive reviews and the affordable price, figuring I couldn't afford to be as selective as some of the reviewers (Rashi was definitely out of my budget range). I am not a tea connoisseur, so this is just based on my personal preference. I was looking for something similar to Stash Premium Green, which I much prefer to other green teas I have tried and which is described as Sencha tea leaves (from Brazil). Most green teas are too astringent for my taste. I do enjoy Matcha, which is very full-bodied, less astringent, and more "green" or vegetal tasting, but I can't afford that every day. Frontier Bulk Sencha tea tastes very astringent and "thin" to me, and it seems to require several teaspoons of leaves to achieve the strength I would get from one Stash Premium Green tea bag. I finally looked for Stash on amazon and found that I can purchase it at a much better price here than at the local grocery store, so that's the way I am going. Again, my preference is for less astringent, fuller body, nice rich (not bitter) "green" flavor. Hope this helps you choose what's best for you!
