    The guitar shop damaged the original pickup in my Greg Bennett Samick guitar but wouldn't admit it so I tried a generic cheap replacement. It sounded terrible so I bought this based on Fishman's reputation. Right choice - it sounds better than the original pickup when plugged in. I can't wait to start recording with this pickup because it sounds so good. Don't know how but it actually improved the acoustic tone of the guitar too! I thoroughly recommend this pickup.

    I have a Martin 000x1ae that has a fishman active undetsaddle pickup with soundhole controls. I love it and it makes that relatively cheap guitar sound like a winner through a sound system. That's why I bought this pickup for my old Washburn guitar, because it's so old and old sounding in a good way, I wanted a passive pickup to really capture the sound of the guitar. Long story short I took it to a master luthier to have it installed and he was surprised that fishman had made such a cheap product. The end of the transducer is exposed and the other end, upon tap testing it proved to be less responsive. This means that depending on which direction you install it you will either be lacking in low or high end output. Buying this is a waste of money that could be better spent on a different fishman pickup. I want to be clear that in my experience Fishman isn't the problem it's just this product, if it's really even made by fishman.

    I had a Fishman put in another Spanish guitar (no onboard pre-amp), and it has worked great for years (...would probably sound even better with an external Baggs pre-amp). Had problems with my old '84 Takamine classical (unbalanced, no bass response), so installed this, then found problem was in pre-amp. I'll probably bypass the pre-amp (hard to replace), and run straight out the back.

    I've been using Fishman products for over 20 years now. They used to provide great installation material with their products. You are now directed to go online to their support pages which are glitchy and lacking of real instructions. the under-saddle pickup is a good unit, a bit harsh on treble frequencies. This can be remedied with an eq box.

    I tried a KKK transducer setup. But there was simply no way to safely install it. It was way too clear that super glue plus a micro sound cavity was a bad idea. This one went in cleanly and sounds great. Especially balanced with a Fishman pre amp.
