Amazing Piano!
I felt compelled to write a review after so many years of owning this piano because I feel it deserves all the accolades! Amazon tells me I purchased this piano back in December 2008...12 years ago I got this piano for my then 2 year old daughter. It was an instant hit! It’s cute, it works find, it’s very decorative too! It has been part of my home decor for the past 12 years! It’s been used by all the kids that came after my daughter: her cousin, her sister, her brother, her other two twin cousins and they all now older and youngest kids still using the piano from time to time. My daughter is almost 15 now and she doesn’t use the piano anymore but her piano is now a staple in our home and it will never be thrown away! It has withstood the handling of 6 children and it doesn’t look brand new anymore ofc but now that all kids are older and no one planning to bring more into this world lol, I’m looking into getting it restored so it can look brand new and ready for the new generation in the future haha. Highly recommend!!!!

    This piano is just perfect for my little grandkids both in durability and size. The workmanship is beautiful, bright colors to please the young ones and very sturdy for little hands to play. The sound is good for such a small piano. The bench is sturdy and is just the right height for my 18 month and 14 month olds. This is a great introduction to music and I know it will last a long time. It was easy to assemble the few pieces that had to go together.

    This item was defective. There were no holes drilled into sides, as there should have been, so it could not be assembled. The sound of the keyboard was tinny.

    This piano was a disappointment. Although I expected a toy piano sound, I did not expect the keys to be as significantly out of tune as several were. Since sound in the piano is produced by little hammers hitting a metal xylophone-type apparatus bolted to the back of the piano (on the inside) there is now way to adjust the tuning. A secondary problem was the fumes from the piano on removal from the box. The piano smelled strongly like formaldehyde (the sort of scent you encounter in natural history museums). The "Safety" page of the manufacturer's web site states that their pianos have "a high-gloss finish that is smooth for little hands, with no exposed nails or staples" but does not say anything about manufacturing practices or materials used. Because I didn't want to take any chances with my child's health, I ended up returning the piano.

    My daughter enjoys banging on this piano randomly. She's still a bit young (1 1/2 years old), but I wanted a piano for her size. We have kept the legs off of it so far and will add them when she's bigger, which is a great option to have. The piano had a very strong chemical/paint smell when I first opened it, but it didn't last long. While wiping it down with just a damp paper towel, some red paint from the underside came off on the towel. This was a freshly made piano! A couple of the keys didn't work at first, but they have since loosened up and work just fine. Schoenhut also emailed me long-form instructions on how to fix the keys myself, but I was too busy to do that. I think this piano will pay off down the road when my daughter is a little bigger.

    I bought this piano for my 23 month old daughter and she loves it! She will bang out tunes for hours, well maybe not hours since 23 month olds don't do anything for that long! But she enjoys it very much and so far it seems very durable. My only problem was that when I went to put the legs on they wouldn't go into the holes. After some review, I realized that the bottom was put on backwards and the holes were blocked. Easy fix, just unscrewed it and put it on correctly but just wanted to post that in case someone thinks it's broken. I am very pleased with this purchase!

    I love this and my 21 month old son does as well. To be fair, I’m no expert pianist... or even intermediate for that manner so I don’t know how the keys should sound so I can’t speak to that. However, if you are looking for a way to simpler expose your child to the piano, this is a great product. It’s easy to assemble, sturdy, and the keys sounds good enough for me.
