Opened the case the very first time for the front to completely come off. Nothing wrong with the DVD itself, and this is an excellent movie. But I expect a case that doesn’t shatter right away, terrible quality. Recommend buying this DVD elsewhere.

If I cant' figure out the angle, then I am entertained. All the actors performed well, good line up of really good actors. And Lucy Liu was amazing, cute, perky and totally believable as the next door neighbor. She surprised me, not sure what makes her give more to the camera, not all her roles delivered like this one. This is a film you can watch and then wait a reasonable amount of time and then you can watch it again. Another stand out was the chameleon Mykelti Williamson. Not much meat for him to chew on here, but he stood out with what he was given. He has the ability to LOOK like the character's he is playing. Forrest Gump's Bubba comes to mind. Well done all that helped make this film, in front and behind the camera.

Fun plot and well made. The only negative for me was that movie makers mislead you a bit early on so catching on to the real "plot" takes a while. But it was fun to watch anyway and good work by a stellar cast.

Somehow never saw this movie till the other night. Very engrossing, non formulary, and full of surprises. There is of course tons of great actors.

But damn, this was a good movie! An actual plot, no social justice warriors. Excellent!

This has always been one of my favorite films, and it was wonderful to learn it still holds up 15+ years later. Amazing cast, acting, humor, and story telling.

Initially I just came for Josh Hartnett but I thought this film was brilliant. It's very slick and stylised - with something of a more polished Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels feel to it's production/direction and it has a similar feel (also comparable to Guy Ritchie's Snatch) in how it plays out with multiple gangster-tinged storylines all coming together.
It starts a little slow but it gets going soon enough and it's well worth the initial investment of patience for the story to start unfolding properly. Hartnett plays the main central character of Slevin and does so extremely well, Lucy Liu puts in a great performance as his new neighbour and love interest, Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley each do a great job of opposing kingpins trying to get one over each other and Bruce Willis is brilliant as an independent hitman in the middle (without giving anything away!).
As to be expected, there is double-crossing and lots of violence along with a decent undertone of comedy and some romance, too. It's all paced very well for the most part, always entertaining and very good looking as a film and there's a great twist at the end. Really glad I stumbled across this film and it's certainly good enough for a second viewing.

For me Lucky Number Slevin is one of the best films of all time and each time I see it becomes closer and closer to being my number one favourite. I love everything from the comedy to the casting - Josh Hartnett and Lucy Liu were a master stroke, I haven't seen such on film chemistry since Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in Mr and Mrs Smith.
The beginning whilst a little slow is still entertaining and much needed to set up the initial introduction of the characters. It more than kept my concentration and Hartnetts razor sharp character was a standout highlight.
If you're unsure after the initial 30mins I urge you to stick it out, many of my family weren't sure if they were going to stick around (2 sex scenes in 15mins didn't help!) but come the end of the film each one left impressed and were glad they didn't leave.
On the subject of the ending the last 20mins where they reveal the twists and turns is probably my most favourite segment of cinema ever story wise (Dad in particular was very pleased they actually explained how everyone was linked instead of leaving the audience to try and guess for themselves as many films do).
I wish there was more films like this masterpiece. If anyone knows of anymore like it please leave me a comment below on my review!

Like an American Guy Ritchie film
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on January 4, 2013
And, when I say `like an American Guy Richie film' I mean one of his good ones, not Swept Away. Lucky Number Slevin follows the tale of a young man, oddly enough who goes by the name `Slevin.' Upon arriving in New York he's mistaken for someone else and ends up getting caught in a life or death feud between two rival mob bosses (both wonderfully played by Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley). Throw into the mix a hitman (Bruce Willis) who you don't know which side he's on and Lucy Lui as the love interest and you have the recipe for a half decent film.
Like made famous more in British gangster films, there are plenty of shady characters along the way (you know most will end up on the wrong end of a gun sooner or later), plus even more twists and turns so you don't know who's double-crossing who. However, luckily there aren't so many plot twists here that the conclusion will leave you scratching your head and having to look the end up on the internet (as I found myself doing with Guy Ritchie's `Revolver').
All in all, Lucky Number Slevin is a good, solid entry into the gangster genres. It may never quite attain the dizzy heights of Goodfellas etc, but it's definitely worth a watch it you're a fan of the genre.

Lucky Number Slevin
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on October 5, 2007
As already noted Lucky Number Slevin is shot in a very stylised and slick way, which I happened to enjoy. The story keeps you engrossed as it moves at a good pace and all the actors do an OK job that shouldn't make you cringe too much. I liked it more than most films of 2006, and you can do worse for a bit of afternoon entertainment. The twist in the tale was good and it finished with a satisfying ending. Not bad overall, but not outstanding.

I got this as a present for my brother, it is not a bad film, but there is little new or exciting about it. If you are a fan of these kinds of action romps then i think you will like this as it is competently paced and has the action sequences that you would expect.
The Blu-Ray transfer is good and the sound is possibly the bes feature of the film in my view with a rich soundscape that in surroundsound can drag you right into the action.
