- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2016I absolutely LOVE this light!!! The quality of the light is beautiful, very soft & cool. Purchased for bathroom to prevent awakening our eyes with usual bathroom ceiling lighting at nighttime, this is perfect because it stays on just long enough. The sensor turns on and off and you can change the settings, 1min setting is just right. The only downsides are: (1) that you have to remove it in order to use appliances such as a hairdryer or high voltage appliance; and (2) I wish it would shut off completely without having to set it to the "Off" position each morning, because mine stays on a low light setting all day long if I keep it at the "1min" setting unless I set the switch to the "Off" position.
I wrote an email to the manufacturer, Datexx, with several questions, here are the responses they sent me if it's helpful to anyone out there with pre-purchase questions:
1. One can share other devices in the same socket as long as the other devices are not high current drawing devices. Example: microwave oven, Hair dryers, Mixers etc are high current drainage equipments.
2. This unit has motion and light sensors. Obviously, when complete darkness is detected, brightness will be at highest level. Unless it is in Nightlight mode( only one LED lights up).
3. Flashing LED when plugged in after unplugging from AC socket is normal. The light output can also change if ambient light change occurs. So "flashing " does not necessarily indicate any damage.
4. Life time for these LEDs varies from 50000 hours to 100,000 hours. So one can calculate based on the usage say 10 hours continuous usage: the life would vary from say approx 13 years to 25 years approx. and this device has auto shutoff and has light sensor. So that makes the lifetime more longer!
5. Sentina other models can be looked in www. Datexx.com.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2015I bought 2 ZEN lights. One died after 2 months of use. The seller doesn't care, as it is past 30 days. The manufacturer "datexx" is probably a 2 men shop, that didn't figure out a RMA process yet. They offer some 908-xxx-xxxx number, which I am not going to call, because I am not sure what kind of money I am going to be charged per minute. They answer emails, except reluctantly. The last word from them is a request to send a Word attachment with my credit card information. That's how they are going to charge me $10 for shipping and handling of the replacement unit. Maybe I am an old school guy, but this must be a joke. I regret the purchase.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2012This light worked great for about 2 weeks, then for some reason it would click on and off...over and over again.....Would not be bad if my home was a DISCO! But this item is worthless for its stated use....DO NOT BUY....
- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2015I have owned several of these nightlights over the years and experienced the same issue as other reviewers listed here. Product quality is all over the place on these lights. I have one that died completely after just a few months and another that has lasted years. Another one just recently started strobing as mentioned by another reviewer; it is essentially dead because it won't go full power and is too dim for a nightlight now. There is only so much life in these units as far as the motion and light detection is concerned. I noticed that high traffic areas will cause varied issues sooner than ones off the beaten path. Implementation is great but performance along with price keeps it from being a big winner.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2012PROS: Looks great, bright pleasing light, switch has selectable time for auto-shutoff
CONS: I wish it had a mode to not light up without motion. it has a light sensor and lights dimly, so in a dim/dark room it will always faintly glow. It then lights up fully when motion is detected. That is fine but we use them in hallways without windows, and I would prefer it off completely when there's no motion.
A little too bright for some uses, but the light is projected well and not harsh.
Not a wide range of motion detection. it's easier to sneak up on this light without triggering it. It does detect fairly far away within its field though.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2012These are fabulous nightlight. They are bright, without being blinding, and the motion detector is perfect--no failures or false positives. The LED is power conservative, yet snaps on immediately. I use these all over the house and never have to turn on a light when walking through a room at night unless I want to stay in the room. The nightlight has an adjustable timer and will stay on for 1, 5, or 10 minutes after activation. The inactive nightlight produces a soft glow that doesn't disturb my sleep. My only complaint is the size--they take up one plug in an outlet and nearly block the second plug.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2014It died after about 3 weeks of use.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2016I used this on a landing to light the stairs when going down. It provided an adequate attractive light for this purpose. However, there was no way to adjust the sensitivity so that it would not light up when someone simply walked by near the top of the stairs which was very annoying and a waste of energy. It also only lasted for a little over two years before it would no longer fully light up but just briefly flashed when the motion sensor was activated. For something so expensive it should have lasted longer and have a sensitivity adjustment.
Update 10/26/16: Looked for a replacement that would be as bright and work as well. Bought the GE 29844 Ultra Brite Motion-Activated LED Light for under $8 on Amazon and liked it well enough to buy another. The weak point in motion sensor lights seem to be the failure of the motion sensor itself which seems to only last 2-3 years no matter the quality of the light itself. It doesn't make sense to pay $35 for a light that won't last any longer than an equally bright and functional $8 one.
