A few of us monkeys at ThinkGeek had this great shared dream a few months ago. In it, the whole world was 8-Bit, just like the video games we grew up on. We found ourselves having to leap from platform to platform, to search for pieces of the Triforce of Wisdom, and to fight scary mutated plants and animals. The music was awesome (and still stuck in our heads) but the coolest part was what we were wearing: a tie. But not just any tie, an 8-Bit tie!

We woke up screaming. An 8-Bit tie - what an awesome way for the drones of Cubeland to show their independence from Corporate America! So, we did what we knew you'd want - we had the ties made. Silk-like Microfiber construction, clip on* (for easy dressing and t-shirt wear if needed), and custom designed by us for you. You'll be the envy of the office or, at least, you'll get tons of attention. You'll be just like Mario when he wore a tie to meetings when negotiating his contact with Nintendo. Sure the Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360 are out there with all their super technology, but sometimes it's nice to remember the beginnings of the video game revolution. Viva la 8-Bit!

* Clip on note - Hey folks, there is a very good reason why this tie must be a clip on. A real tie would end up creating a non 8-bit curved triangle knot at the top of the design. The 8-bit effect would be instantly lost. Nanny Nanny boo boo.

This tie is bright, vibrant and it certainly turns heads with it's sexy retro flare. The pixelated design is perfect for any retro gamer or any fan of 8-bit games.

Some people might not like the fact that it's a CLIP ON tie. But that's the beauty of it. If it were a regular tie, it would not retain the 'square' appeal of a true 8-bit design. The clip is sturdy and holds tight. The material is tough and holds its own quite nicely.

I've worn this on many occasions and there are no signs of any wear or stray strands of material or fray. It's wonderfully put together. I plan on getting the red equivalent soon enough since this one has impressed me so much.

So this tie is almost too awesome. Nice construction, and definitely a eye-catcher, and all for less than a regular boring tie. There are some things you should really be aware of:

*This is a clip-on. It has to be, since the knot would be decidedly not 8-bit, being round and everything. Basically what happens is that the front of the tie is grafted on a small regular clip-on tie.

*It is hand made, so the pixelated look will differ slightly from tie to tie.

As far as I can tell, the construction is nice, and the geeky ladies respond well!

I wore this for a New Year's Eve party a few years back and everyone took well to it. My only issue with it is that it's a clip on instead of a true tie, but that may not bother most people - in fact, I suppose that may make it more versatile to wear with items that don't have collars. It's a nice random tie to have for random occasions that don't have a dress code. It's held together well for being a few years old.

The blue was perfect, the stitching was what I thought it would be. You should know it is clip on or else the 8-bit part wouldn't make much sense. Defintely a great one for your sexy geek. It's made with a normal Silky tie material, which is good because in the picture it looked more like a thin flimsy piece of material, but it's not, it feels like real tie. Its also a clip on, so I can wear it with any shirt. I got it really fast! took only 4 days, and mine came with a free Thinkgeek sticker + magazine. Overall really happy with this purchase.
