The PDM started the engine on the first key turn.

I mounted it to the Dorman 904-113 PMD Relocation Kit and used Super Lube 98003 Silicone on the metal frame, rather than the little mat provided with the Relocation kit. Apply the Super Lube only to the metal PDM frame and not to the bellows. I mounted the assembly to the factory cruise control frame next to the ABS computer module. That will protect it from high water and the elements and is as far away from the engine you can get under the hood. Used a pair of channel locks to carefully squeeze the plug into the PDM. I got and even insertion and the seal is even all around the plug. The engine started on the first key turn using the 9 resistor, which went into the PDM easily with a pair of tweezers. The engine is running great and has better acceleration from a stop than it has for at least 10 years. I have always used Stanadyne fuel additives since new and recently switched to Hot Shot's Secret P040464Z Diesel Extreme Cleaner conditioner, so I have never had injector issues in 160,000 miles.

Didn't realzie how common it is for these to fail, and how many different symptoms are cause by these failing PMD. We drive a lot of Diesels around here and paying for a new Injection Pump from Chevrolet for $2500 is fairly common. Well, now we have the Internet to finally at least try and stick it to the Stealership who is always so good at replacing parts that don't need replacing and maybe even saving some money in the process.
Patient #1. 1994 crew cab. Main issue was stall shortly after a warm start, or shortly after getting on the road creating a dangerous situation. Would mostly start right back up. Eventually required time to cool down before it would restart.
Patient #2. 1998 Suburban. Lots of symptoms again after warming up. Erratic idle on freeway if you took you foot off of gas, engine speed would fluctuate. Sometimes surge at idle. Sometimes erratic throttle response (even as high as 3 grand!) with no pressure on throttle. And worst off, most warm starts would the engine would take off to like 2500 rpm while belching black and grey smoke before setting back down to normal. Also cruise control was intermittent not working. Replacing this part fixed all these symptoms. Again these are all related to heat or an already warm engine. So if you are having cold start or run problems, your issues may be elsewhere.

was worried buying a generic brand but truth be told my 6.5TD newer ran as good, so much more power i can't believe the difference compared to Stanadyne driver , two years back i got a new pump new driver came mounted and injectors OEM 1800$ later and i believe that fuel pump driver was bad as compared to doorman driver it runs smother crisp very responsive ,old driver OEM completely failed just outside warranty so i found this thing here from doorman and as i stated above - newer in last seven years did my truck preform like it did after instal ,buy it save some money and put savings in fuel tank lol

Junk! The Dorman that amazon is selling is used or dorman is just junk. I have 2 dorman parts the 1st One I got worked good but it started to go bad after 2 days. it was mounted to a heat sink kit. I mounted a small fan to cool the heat sink that helped. It lasted a year. I got a 2nd dorman and it ran just as bad as the used one I wanted to replace. The part makes my truck surge when using the fuel pedal. If I use the cruise control the truck runs smooth. So get your part in a part store so you can take it back or go with a better part.

Worked fine for about a month or so, then my cruise control started cutting out randomly.

The PMD that I was replacing did the same thing about a week before it started stalling, but this one continued to function normally other than the cruise issues.

Replaced this PMD with another Stanadyne model, and now cruise control works again. This one will be kept as a spare, since the throttle still works normally, but overall I was pretty disappointed with this product.

**EDIT**

Updated to 4 stars, turned out the cruise control problem was due to a faulty PMD resistor. Worked fine for 6 months, no issues. Took a star off because the resistors I've used on it have to be forced in, unlike the Stanadyne PMDs. Destroyed two resistors while troubleshooting problems.

Does what it's supposed to do. my truck wouldn't start so I ran the engine codes and did some research the code that came up pointing to the PMD pop this thing in there and it works like a charm. it also fix the problem I've been having with the cruise control cutting out or not working at all, I guess the cruise on these diesels is all electronic and so the PMD has something to do with it. I installed it with the dorman relocation kit and the doorman resistor so I wouldn't have to tear the engine half apart to take out the old one. took about 20 minutes to put the whole shooting match together. it doesn't come with instructions so you'll have to do a little poking around online to find out how to do it.

My 1999 gmc 6.5l c3500 was starting to just die for no reason. Like someone reached over and turned off the ignition. No powersteering, no power brakes, engine completely died. Had to just pull over and try to restart it. Fortunately I knew from different diesel forums about the FSD/PMD problem with the 6.5l diesel. I had already moved the original PMD (pump mounted driver) underneath my bumper to relieve the overheating problems associated with the original factory placement. Mine finally quit at 170,000 miles. I bought this one at a great price here on Amazon and got the free 2-day shipping with prime. I simply swapped this new one for the old one and problem solved. The truck has not died for over a week now which is since I replaced it. I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE AWESOME DEAL.
This was about half what you would pay anywhere else. Who knows how much the dealer would gouge you for this part!
