The microphone itself works quite well for my purposes (speech dictation as a writer). The size is convenient, too. The real problem lies in the mini-USB that connects it to the computer. It's really flimsy and soft and the green/red light on the microphone that indicates it's connected or not flickers the whole time you use it. If you move the mic or jostle it in any way, it goes off and the dictation software drops saying it cannot find the microphone. There are also company issues, as I've updated below:
*update: I ordered Samson's software directly from their site in order to improve the experience with their mic. Paid and downloaded, and it installed and opened fine on my Mac. Problem is it doesn't recognize the mic. I wrote back and forth with them. They sent a new mic (same kind), but it still didn't work. They sent a file to "fix" it, but clearly know nothing about Macs and so that didn't work, either. At that point I asked for a refund for their useless software, and then they suddenly disappeared. I would not suggest ever doing business with a company like that.

I purchased this USB microphone to use with Windows 10 digital assistant "Cortana". I used this mic for an unorthodox "in a car pc" installation. I used the clip to install the mic just above the steering wheel. I connected the provided USB cable, from the mic to the PC (no drivers or software were necessary on Windows 10). In use, the microphone picked up my voice perfectly over the engine/fan noise. I was surprised how accurate the mic was, with the voice recognition software. There were two switchable mic settings to choose between, cardioid and omnidirectional pickup patterns. For my purpose, I selected omnidirectional. The build quality of this mic is fantastic, the base provides a stable platform if you have it on a table. The microphone can also be folded away, into the base. Lets start with the build quality, It offers metallic and plastic build. Top portion of the device is mode out of metal which seems well build but the lower half is made out of plastic which is not up to mark, so you have of be careful as it get cracked with normal usage. So to start with the sound quality it offers 3 modes and all of them work perfectly. -10db option a great to do voice over and the sound comes out awesome. Yes, it captures little bit of noise but that's not a concern as it can be removed in post processing. So for the price it offers great recording options and good sound quality. Other two options are also great to record unidirectional or all directional sound. So if you are on a tight budget then this mic will fit your need perfectly.
On handling front it is very small and can be connected to your laptop via mini USB cable. So all in all i am very satisfied with the device with only one complain "Build quality"
