This show is sort of like the Bachelor, except instead of a bunch of women getting catty while they fight for the attention of one man because OMG women are so desperate to get married it's eight women working with a life coach in a "boot camp" setting to overcome the issues in their lives that are preventing them from finding love.

Steve Ward is the coach/matchmaker that designed the lessons for the boot camp. Each episode(or week for the women in the show) has a clear theme about something the women need to be working on, and ends with a group therapy session in which the womens progress is assessed. Both the good and the bad are recognized, with one woman being specifically told she did the best and why, and another woman getting "the hot seat" for poor behavior so that they can spend some extra time working on her issue that she wasn't able to overcome during the week. Some of the middling women are reviewed as well, and it's great to watch the women grow as they learn and implement Steves advice.

My only disappointment with this series is that Steve constantly references a list of "rules" like "don't be weird" and "respect his privacy" but I've been unable to find that list published anywhere. I think a great format for a book would be the list of rules with a paragraph or two adding context with stories from his matchmaking career, preferably one example of it being broken, and one where it was followed...similar to the book "laws of power", but with Steves perspective. I'm very sad that this resource doesn't seem to be available, because Steves advice is very very good.
