I use these as journals since I hate writing on lined sheets. The paper is heavy and smooth without being slick, so it takes a great line from my pen. The binding is sturdy but flexible enough not to have a deep gutter, so while the pages don't lie as flat as a spiral notebook can, they are still very usable and the whole thing is much more durable. I love this.

Mine did not have the California Prop 65 warning about which the previous reviewer complained. I really doubt this actually contains lead or whatever (the warning is often used to protect against litigation because it's far cheaper than maintaining lead-safe certification), but as I don't intend to EAT the book, I don't really care.

Love this book.

I bought this to replace a very old hardbound sketch book I had finally used up. Really old, I got the last one 35 years ago as a gift. I was pleased to see that the same item was still available and in fact the paper quality in this book is even better. It's not the same brand as my ancient one but I'm just saying I am very pleased. I had to ask the question "would the sticker on front come off easily?" The answer is yes it does.

Super sturdy book. I love how the cover looks and feels. The sticker attacked to it comes right off (which is always an issue for me) Great for doodling and making scrapbooks. The paper is super high quality. I can use light watercolors and it doesn't bleed much.~

I love Pentalic sketch books. Combined with a black .01 Micron, you just can't get any better. The Pentalics are my number one go to product for keeping journals. I love to write and illustrate and find that most "journal" offerings are silly, loaded with lines, and just too cookie cutter in general. If you love to write outside the box and illustrate too, then the Pentalic line of blank books are for you. Perfect paper weight and acid-free. I literally have stacks of filled up Pentalics.

What a fantastic quality sketch book!
My daughter needed one for her art class and I am so glad I picked this one. The paper is thick, so there is no bleeding to the next page (well, unless you really really tired). The hardcover feels of very good quality too. This sketch book just looks and feels a lot more expensive than it is, which is always a plus. She and I are very pleased with it and will be ordering another soon... But seriously, you can't go wrong with this one.. ❤️
