So, I figured that I'd give that a try, and I used Service Station to flash the BIOS. I then rebooted, went into BIOS, did "Set Default" and booted again. After that I powered the laptop down, and put only 1 of the Patriot 4GB sticks into the slot underneath, leaving the other slot empty (it looks like this Satellite will only boot if that slot is populated), and then powered it on. To my pleasant surprise, it then booted into Windows 7!! I then added the 2nd 4GB Patriot stick and rebooted, and voila, 8GB total in Win7 Ultimate 64-bit. So, I can confirm that this Patriot memory works in a Toshiba Satellite L455-S5975. Just what the Laptop needed

The Patriot Signature 4 GB PC2-6400 DDR2 Notebook Memory PSD24G8002S is perhaps the single greatest piece of computer electronics I've purchased in my 20+ year IT career that ranges from my time as a graphics designer on the Mac SE30 to my current position remotely managing more than 4,000 servers at a Tier I data center.

I happen to run a computer consulting side business that assists local individuals and businesses with their hardware, networking and software needs, and this particular customer of mine wanted a memory upgrade.

Luckily, Creepy Steve bought a laptop preloaded with 64-bit Windows 7, so we could bump him up from the paltry 3GB he had installed (one 2GB DIMM and one 1GB DIMM) to 6GB (he was too cheap to go to 8GB). So I searched Amazon and found this great DIMM from Etaratech with a superb price and I pressed the "Add To Cart" faster than Honey Boo Boo grabs a plate of sketti.

Within four days it was in my mailbox, and later that day, over a cold frosty beer at a local watering hole, I carefully removed the battery from Creepy Steve's laptop, pulled out my small Phillips head screwdriver, carefully removed the cover over the memory slots, pulled out the 1GB DIMM, replaced it with the Patriot Signature 4 GB PC2-6400 DDR2 Notebook Memory PSD24G8002S DIMM I purchased on Amazon and BAM! Just like that, we were cooking with 6GB of memory and his ability to play songs while DJing and keep the music moving has never been better.

Creepy Steve has never happier. As far as I know.

I needed additional memory to upgrade to Mountain Lion on my iMac 8,1. I knew that I could trust the reliable reviews on Amazon, I read enough positive reviews on the Patriot products to take a chance and I am glad that I did. I purchased the Patriot 4GB PC2-6400 DDR2 and added to the 1GB memory that I already had. Apple said it could only handle 4GB.But the reviews said otherwise and they were right. Initially when I first installed the memory I got a loud continuous beep and a blank screen. No need to panic, I googled the issue on my Ipad and located a forum that gave possible problems and solutions. Apparently I did not push the memory deep enough into the slot . Once I repeated the installation insuring that it was snuggled in its resting place all went, well and it worked like a charm. My computer moves so much quicker with the added memory. The jury is still out on Mountain Lion but I love my new memory. Thanks Amazon , I love the fact that I can review what actual customers purchase and make an educated decision for myself instead of relying on a salesperson that does not have my best interest.That is my main reason for summiting this review , to assist other customers .

Name Brand Memory for Excellent Compatibility and Price

My 4-year old HP DV7-1083CL had 4 Gb of RAM (2 Gb X 2) originally, but because I loaded this Windows 7 machine with many programs, I bump up to the memory limit often. I use TuneUp Utilities to optimize the operating system and to turn off some memory-resident processes and programs. I also use a free program called meminfo which can be setup to show the percentage of memory left in the lower right corner of the screen. Even with an optimized OS, I still have a memory usage of 75% or more, which slows down the computer considerably.

The HP service manual stated that the 1083CL could only handle up to 4 Gb of RAM total, but this is not true. I also could not be sure if the two available memory slots could handle memories of different capacities.

Taking a chance, I ordered a 4 Gb stick from Patriot. I took a 2 Gb RAM out of one slot and replaced it with the 4 Gb Patriot RAM. Now one slot has 2 Gb and the other has 4 Gb for a total of 6 Gb. So the answer is that the HP can handle up to 8 Gb and can accept different memory capacities in each slot.

Having two extra gigabytes of memory to work with, my HP now feels a lot smoother and snappier. I can now have Chrome and Firefox browsers each having a dozen tabs open, iTunes and Zinio reader open, Skype, and reach a memory usage of only 60%. By the way, if you install meminfo, you can defragment the memory on the fly, instead of rebooting every so often to regain memory. Just right-click the memory usage indicator on the lower right and select Memory Defragmenter.

The Patriot memory works, and it is definitely worth the $55 investment. You just need to find out the correct memory type and speed for your computer (DDR, DDR2, DDR3, etc.)

2009 White Macbook

Installed memory in Bank 0, with no issues. According to System Information the Status returns "ok". I can't tell if my macbook is any faster because I have a SSD installed and that alone made it incredible fast. I wanted to install 6GB so I can give my virtual machine, using Fusion, 2GB of memory.

Since I had no issues, I contemplating purchasing another stick for my 2008 iMac, which by chance uses the same type of memory.
