Not all cords are made the same, and this is definitely the case with power cords.
it is IMPERATIVE that you do not just buy the cheapest cord you can find, and assume they all are the same quality and offer the same features, if I may call it that.
When looking for a power cord, the most important factor in determining which one to get is Amperage. There are three common gauges(Thickness) of wire;
14 ga wire which supports up to 15 AMPS
16 ga wire which supports up to 10 AMPS
18 ga wire which supports up to 5 AMPS
You can think of Current like the flow rate of water in a pipe. If the pipe can support a "flow rate" of 15A, then it most certainly can support 10A or anything below 15 (To an extent of course). So, having a wire that supports more AMPs than the device needs is perfectly fine.

So now you might be wondering, well, what cord do I need to get. That depends on what you're connecting it to. For instance, the EVGA power supply I used indicates AC Input: 100-240 VAC 10A, 60/50 Hz. Since the cord I purchased was the 10ft, 18GA version which supports 15A, I am safe to use this cord with my power supply. For the price listed of $13.29 at the time, it was very reasonable. I highly recommend this cord.

I currently live in an older home where some of the electrical grid has been updated and some of it has not. With running a small home music studio your gear certainly lets you know if something isn't right. From 60 cycle hum to ground loops, overloaded currents or underpowered voltage. All bad news. It may not solve all your problems, but having good quality cables certainly helps. In the picture you can see the size difference between your average 18 gauge power cable and Tripp Lite's 14 gauge. The shorter length was exactly what I was looking for to replace an older flimsy AC cable on a noise sensitive digital EQ. The 14 gauge cable feels like a solid quality build with sturdy plug ends. No complaints, came in a genuine branded ziplock bag.

Okay so I bought this product because my power cables were getting very hot. I mean hot to the point it was painful to hold on the the power cord. The old ones were rated for 15 amps and I was pulling 9.5 amps with 1150+ watts off a 1350 watt power supply. The plugs were just ran with 12/2 w/ground to new 20 amp breakers from the panel. When these arrives they are very heavy cables. After install these do not get hot at all... not even warm. good quality and handled the job nicely.

I have a Boneco steam humidifier which uses up to 480 watts (approx. 4 amps). I needed a longer cord due to always tripping over the thing and sometimes pulling the cord out of the back. As a licensed electrician, I obsess over things like ampacity and noticed the 18 gauge cord got a little warm. 18 AWG is so small it hardly even charts in the code book, but is commonly used for most appliances. For a continuous draw like a heater (even so small at 4 amps), I wanted something thicker and as direct as possible to the receptacle. This 14 gauge cord is perfect. Not only is it two gauges thicker than 18, but the construction is heavier duty. It plugs into the C13 connector a bit more solidly than the OEM cord. For my application, I have complete faith in leaving this cord running unattended all day.

Using this to replace the stock POS power cord on my water distiller. Plugged it in and distiller didn't turn on. Appears to be slop in the connection, plus the female plug seems longer. Not the distiller b/c I just replaced the C14 male side and I have a old printer power cord I was using temporarily, it and the old power cord both connect perfect. I guess I could go the the hassle of returning, but don't want to bother. Pretty disappointed, I mean we're talking about a power cord...not an electron microscope....am-aright?

I bought this for my mining computer. I have a 1000watt PSU and have been using the cord that it came with. Lately, I noticed it was getting warm to the touch near the connection of the PSU and cord. This concerned me. I am running 780watts from the wall, and just thought it would be prudent to upgrade the cable to give me piece of mind. So far the cable doesn't even get warm, and everything seems to be running fine. I'll update if anything changes.

Was happy with purchase until I tried to use it, the amount of over-moulding inside the receptacle holes rendered the cord junk and unusable. After only spend a considerable amount of time using a specialized scalpel blade and tweezers was I able to remove enough of the over-moulded plastic to allow a plug to fit into the receptacle end. Not impressed with build quality, though seeing that it was manufactured in China, that should tell you everything you need to know about it.

El cable tiene muy buen diametro a diferencia de la mayoria de los cables de alimentación qué vienen de fabrica con cualquier fuente de poder. El único problema es al momento de conectarlo ya que queda un poco flojo es decir; no conecta del todo en la ranura lo que hace que quede suelto y pese a que el diámetro del conector es del tamaño ideal el problema es lo largo del mismo ya que se queda un poco corto.

Le daría mas estrellas, pero en los 4 cables que compre el problema fue el mismo y con diferentes maquinas.
