It is really a new generation light , what i most like about it is that it is a very simple flash light.
Delivered from 2 days , i brought it with me yesterday to the mountains , it was very dark at night at night , electrical power was off ,it was a good place for testing it , i did not direct it too much to other , may be 200 meters houses , i didnt want to scare people from that unusual act . I directed it to the hills , i used it at close range too , it performed really well in all these tasks .

LED Lenser 880050 P17 LED Flashlight, BlackOne of the WORST made Flashlights I've come across. I ordered 3 of them total (1 for me, and 1 for my dad and 1 had was DOA that I sent right back). Within a period of a 90 days, they are both Dead, and they can't be returned for a Full Refund. I got to use my Flashlight about 6-7 times, as I bought it to keep near my bedside. Imagine my surprise when it just started malfunctioning. So....I called my dad to see if he had any issues, and he said "yes", but he didn't want to say anything because it was it was the second time, and he didn't want another.....UGH.

I tried changing the batteries, cleaning contact, screwing and unscrewing to exercise the parts, but the only thing that works is the filament chip, but the rest of the light is dead. Not light a MAG Light, where they give a decent Warranty if anything happens. Oh well.

great flashlight with but with a few cons

i bought this flashlight about 3-4 months ago, i have used it substantionly, here are my thoughts

pros- feels extreamly sturdy and solid

- the specs of this light says that max is 205L (lumen), high is 180L, and low is 40L, i have had several other flashlights and to me comparing to others, it seems to me like max mode is 425L, high is 300L, and low is really only 40L. so its much brighter than i thought it would be

- i tested the brightness on high(180L) with the bateries that came with it (led lenser brand) and it after about 55 hours it still had about 20 percent of its original brightness, that is really amazing

- fit and finish is great

- the finish is reasonably scrathproof

- made in germany and you can tell, you really have to hold it to see the quality of construction.

- the focusing system is unique and cool i like it

- it is really built to last ( the springs are tough, the o rings are very thick unlike other light, very tough construction)

- because its so heavy it can be used as a wepon

CONS- this may not be a big con for some people but for me it is, when the light is loaded with 3D bateries, it is extreamly heavy (i think around 4 pounds) that is mainly to do with how heavy d bateries are, the light itself feels only to be around 1.5 pounds or so. because its so heavy and big i dont recomend this light for most uses, like taiking it in your bag for a camping trip, especially if you bring along some more EXTREAMLY HEAVY D bateries it will slow you down a lot (this in my opinion is the biggest con)

- i tested this light to see how waterproof this is, i turned on the shower and i prety much gave the light a heavy duty shower for a 2 mins (i left the focusing sytem in the most focussed posible position), i soaked it in every direction possible (and my shower is quit consentrated so its a pretty heavy amount of water hiting the light). after the test i realized its not very good with water, it works like new and didnt fail, but it had a few drops of water in the lense (this was because i put the lense directly in the flow of water of my shower head for a while when i was testing, also when i slided the focusing system of this light back and forth i saw a tiny bit of water come out (like a drop) overall i think you will be fine with rain, but im pretty sure this light will fail you if underwater for a little while

- this may be hard to explain, with many lights, such as my rayovac sportsman extream, it has a mxture of flood and throw even though it cant be adjusted, its like it has a large circle with a much smaller cicrcle inside thats more consentrated wich i like because its like flood and throw at the same time. with this light however i dont really get flood and throw at the same time, i get flood or throw (sorry if this is comfusing many people probably dont uderstand this)

- to operate max mode you have to hold the button down, i dont like that, (for high and low you dont)

- the light seems to get dimmer and dimmer as you use it, i would much perfer a constant light and less runtime

- the checkering on the handle is poor, somewhat slippery and not very effective

overall i think for most people because of the weight you will find it hard to take around with you, but the amount of light this puts out for so many hours is just so amaizing, so it may be worth it to take along the camping trip for you, i think this would be a good choice to keep in your home or car as weight doesnt really matter and stock op on inexpensive d batteries
in case crap hits the fan.

if you can take the weight and except that its not fully waterproof i think you will absolutly love this light

This is one of the most amazing flashlights I've ever encountered. Powerful would be a ridiculous understatement. In its narrow focus, high setting, I could see inside houses on the opposite side of our lake (1/4 mile), it shines off clouds, it illuminated the top of our 150' douglass fir so well I could see individual knots while it was raining. White light, perfect clarity, super easy to focus. The low beam and/or wide setting make this perfect for lighting up any situation -- it no cops-only kind of flashlight. My boys (6 and 9) found it very easy to hold, use and focus, too. Can't believe how well it's built, how lightweight it is (much less than a maglite) and that it runs on three regular D cell batteries. Truly unbelievable, will buy more, will replace my others. Nothing over this price is worth seeing until you've tried this.
