Solid, but may need modification to fit your vehicle. Does not fit 1992 Chevy K1500 without modification.
Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2016
Does not fit 1992 Chevy k1500 without modification. I called the seller giving them the exact dimensions of the screw hole placement for my truck. They called the supplier and they said it would fit. The screw holes were 1/4" off horizontally. Because it is an old truck I drilled new screw holes. Then I needed to grind the small catch piece because it would not fit flush under the clasp. I don't know how to describe that well without actually showing you what I mean. Those modifications worked though and now I have a metal latch instead of the plastic ones that break easily. The mod was not hard but definitely not a "fit" as the seller said it was. FYI, the latch I was sent had a center to center hole pattern of 3/4" horizontal distance and 3/8" vertical distance, assuming you are using it to clasp sliding rear windows in a vehicle. If you want to know if it fits your vehicle, measure your own hole pattern with the window closed and compare them to the hole pattern above. Again, 3/4" from window to window, 3/8" hole pattern in each metal piece itself which holes line up vertically. See my picture! I hope this helps!

After reading the other reviews saying the holes needed to be adjusted to install, I decided to buy it anyway figuring I could drill, file or sand whatever I need to. Well, either they changed the design or people are just doing it the hard way.
Yes, it is true that if you put one of the screws in either part and tighten it down all the way the holes for the other screw won't line up. That's why assembly directions usually tell you to put all the screws in before tightening any of them down.
EASY ASSEMBLY DIRECTIONS:
Using the included screws, start one screw in one of the holes and screw it about half way in. Put a screw in the other hole and tighten it down. Tighten the first screw. Repeat on the other part of the clip. If it doesn't latch perfectly, loosen the screws slightly and adjust the clip.
It actually took me longer to get the old screws out of the broken clip than it did to install the new one. In total it probably took three minutes.
I have replaced a lot of those plastic clips over the years. If this metal one ever breaks I will come back and edit my review

Latch eeems to be well made, but...
The holes of the non-hinge part of the latch did not line up with the holes in the window frame - see picture. I had to mill out the screw holes on the non-hinge part of tje latch.
Also, I used the factory machine screws as the screws that came with the latch are sheet metal and did not hold securely. So, I cut off about 1/8" from the factory screws and they tightened up nicely.
In the end, this latch will far out live the factory or aftermarket parts.

I installed this on my 84 Jeep Scrambler. Even though the holes just happened to match, removing my old latch required cutting and grinding the steel rivets flush to the window frame and redrilling the holes. I used a 3/32 drill bit being careful not to drill thru the window frame. The included screws tapped into the 3/32” holes but make sure you have an excellent small Phillips screwdriver as it requires a little patience and perseverance to get the screws snugged up but the screws worked for me. This is the only metal latch I found. It is well made and designed. You may have to drill new holes but if you take your time and measure this out it’s better than any plastic latch out there.

I have bought several of the supposed OEM replacement latches from here and other places. They seem to last shorter and shorter time periods before the handle breaks off. I was happy to find a metal latch.
This does NOT directly fit a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 factory sliding window!!! The screws that came with this are too small to fit the stock holes and the original screws are too big for the holes in the closer. I ended up drilling the holes out on this and using the original screws which worked pretty well. The other problem is that the holes don't really line up with the stock mounts either, so I had to drill these out even bigger.Overall it just ended up being a bit sloppy.
On the plus side, I am REALLY impressed with the overall quality of the item. All they need to do is make the holes slightly wider and in the shape of short slots and it would fit perfectly. I don't expect to ever have to replace this again, as opposed to every 2 to 5 years on the old one. VERY HAPPY that I can lock my truck up tight again.
I can't believe that a product this good gets so close to being perfect, wish I could give it five stars but it was not a simple bolt-on replacement and I would worry that someone else may not have the tools to do it right on theirs.

Much better than the plastic replacement latches but requires a little work to install.
Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2020Verified Purchase
The latch looks and feels like a quality part, it's much more robust than the plastic replacement latches that are available. I gave only three stars because it requires some modification to fit my application. Some of the other reviewers mentioned drilling the holes larger or other mods; I found it easier to mount with one hole on each part and drill a new hole in the window frame to accommodate the hole spacing. If I were to make a suggestion it would be to provide one of the holes as a slot to make it more universal. I'm very pleased with the purchase.

Leave it to the aftermarket to improve upon design. I have a 94 Ford Ranger 2.3, whose idea of a hinge was folded over plastic that of course broke. This all metal design took a few minutes to install and holds more securely than the original ever did. Keep in mind that for my truck, it required about 30 seconds of rounding out the mounting holes a little to make it line up with mine to prevent cross threading. I took this as a sign that the hole locations were an average spacing from different truck models, so I won't fault them for it and give them a lower star review. Especially considering it took all of 30 seconds to fix. Stay away from plastic options and get this metal lock, you won't be disappointed.
