- Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2014Great light for the patio, camping, or even as an emergency light for the house.
Adjustable brightness switch, easy operation, and a piece of cake to change the batteries. I had purchased a light similar to this from Costco, but found that it did not supply enough light (I barbecue quite often, and with the sun going down in Arizona as early as it does, need some light so that I do not provide "burnt offerings" to any guests) for me to cook well.
This lamp was 4 times the price of the one from Costco, but worth every cent of it. The old adage still hangs in - you get what you pay for.
Be prepared to pay for a bunch of D batteries, but having said that, they should last around 100 hours of normal light.
Lamp itself is sturdy (what else would you expect from Coleman), a bit heavy (an asset - it will not blow over), and a very good light
- Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2014I bought it after reading reviews of a large number of people that this lantern was super bright. but when I tried it at home it didn't seem to be that bright. So I think its ok for a tent but not bright enough to bring it out and put it on the table in open area.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2015Update:I purchased from Amazon around 3-years ago. It stated a 5-year warranty on the amazon website but Coleman claims that it is all a 1 year warranty. See attached chat. They refused to honor it unless you have the manual for it which I definitely wasn't aware that I have to keep the manual for warranty sake.
I love the light and it is very bright. Since it is using D batteries, this will last for a very long time.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2014I have used the old Coleman gas lanterns for nearly 6 decades & was hesitant to switch to LED but I did and am mostly satisfied. This LED lamp is very functional but is not nearly as sturdy construction as the older Coleman equipment. It is 90% plastic so its lighter, dont have to fool with dangerous fuels, generates approx. 80% of the light that a gas model does but there is very little glare and no heat. The 8 "D" cell Duracell batteries can be expensive, however we used the lantern for about 2 hrs daily generally on high & never did kill the batteries. If I had it to do over I would get a 3 mantle (LED) if available for little more light.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2013I have now gone through 2 of these lanterns, neither one lasted more than 2 camping trips. The handle design is horrid, using a simple e-clip to hold the handle on each side. Any jarring at all and they pop off. And the best part, it is impossible to open the lantern to reattach (per Coleman). Coleman Customer Service is excellent, they replaced the first one immediately and are in the process of replacing the second (with another model of my choice). The lantern is very bright but carrying it without the handle is very inconvenient.
One star for the lantern brightness, plus one star for Coleman Customer Service.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2013I use mine in the house for when the power goes out. It is well built and extremely bright at it's highest setting. Light that it produces at lower setting is perfectly acceptable for lighting a room. Batteries last a long time on lower settings but you still get several hours on the highest setting. I ordered this July 2012 and have used it a lot. I just logged in to order one for a Christmas gift but noticed the price went from $59 to $70. That kind of price hike is not acceptable. I will find something else for a gift. Shame on you Amazon.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2015I bought this 3 years ago and am still using the original batteries I installed. It works like a charm to do evening chores in the barn all winter long - just have to hang it up high, and it illuminates the whole barn well enough. Also handy for outdoor chores in below minus weather, and to help navigate my golf cart at night (which I use for chores, not golfing!). Much handier than a flashlight, batteries last longer and not as easily misplaced!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2012Ordered one, tested it - lights flicker when you put it down on floor with just a little "tap"....Got a replacement - same issue...Colemen told be it is because the battery compartment is on the bottom...The second one i got also has 2 loose washers rattling around in crown....Also no way it is 500+ lumens...Maybe 50% briter then their 200 lumin moder or say 300 lumins....I will see if I can find another brand and may send the second one back.
