I love this show from Animal Planet. It is hard to find airings since in my area, they don't run them that often. The DVDs are a lifesaver. Season 1 had two DVDs and some bonus footage. Unfortunately, Season 2 does not. There is only 1 DVD and no bonus footage, just the ten episodes. Season 1 had fourteen episodes where the creatures were hinted at and rarely seen. Season 2 ups the scare quotient considerably. In my opinion, this is the best season of Lost Tapes. You do see the monsters, the atmosphere is creepier and scarier and photography and information is more informative. I love the variety of casts used, it really does seem like you are seeing footage that regular people shot. Episodes include: Spoiler Alerts!

Lizard Man - Creature living in the sewers, this one seems kind of rushed. A reporter follows fire personnel and things don't go well.
Vampire - One of the scariest episodes of this entire series, a favorite and very well done! Not a vampire in the way you normally see them, but the creatures terrorize a family in their house.
Southern Sasquatch - Based on the menacing Fouke Monster in AK (a Bigfoot with a bad attitude who does attack people), this is another favorite and high scare episode set in the woods. Cross reference, check out the 1970's classic The Legend of Boggy Creek that inspired this episode. The Legend of Boggy Creek
Werewolf - A new take on the werewolf legend in an unusual setting - a police investigation.
Death Crawler - Another good one set on a remote island, with creepy insects that kill two expeditions.
White River Monster - A water monster tale, not as scary as some of the others.

I have watched Lost tapes for the past couple of years and love them. Not too long, not too short, 30 minutes is the perfect amount of time to sneak in these guilty little pleasures during lunch. As a 36 year old who has watched Goosebumps, Twilight Zone and other "horror" shows this one comes pretty close to spooking me. These shows can literally make you jump out of your seat. After watching the vampire one, I actually looked under my bed and behind the door, (I seriously did folks), and the werewolf one with its twists and turns is a riot. The only thing I saw with this was that there are no extras in the DVD. This DVD is the barest of bones of production and hopefully Discovery/Animal planet will release Season 3 with a bit more avaible. I would have loved to seen some behind-the-scenes documentaries or some monster trivia. Even a couple of pop-up episodes just for DVD would have been out of this world. Despite the lack of extras, which I don't think merit a decrease in stars, this DVD is a must have for lovers and newbies to this series alike.

We bought season 1 and really enjoyed it. It contained all sorts of true account info printed on the screen during the filmed episodes. THis was mixing the fiction with the real accounts. I liked that.

This new season does not do that. The episodes in season two contain a lot of blood and screaming. They are just not what I appreciated about season one.

Interesting and entertaining, although some of the featured cryptids stretch the boundaries of credibility. Vampires and werewolves? Really? The Southern Sasquatch (Beast of Boggy Creek) is my favourite episode, and the one featuring the Death Crawler is quite scary too.

You got more cool and terrifying monsters in the victims' dangerous, vicious encounters. I had never thought of some of these monsters to be so little-known, especially with a Death Crawler (three-foot deadly multiple-legged insect that hunt unlucky preys stranded on the unknown island close to South America).

Season 2 is much better made than its predecessor, season 1. However even though season 1 is not as well-made as season 2, acting and plot is still basically the same. In episode 02 of lizard man a person will die and the actor who played a rescue man will have a wide smile on his face before/ right after proposing that the person is deceased. This season does have repeating monsters, but I think it was still all right. At times when we get to see the monster usually it's done too cheesy and the plot at times is also ridiculous. Like for example in the last episode, in total darkness, in total madness a guy who made hoax, told his friend to get separated to find another person and meet in 20 minutes. Seriously considering what was supposed to be happening no idiot would do that and no smart man alike. Would like to see season 3 and how different it is. No high hopes. The stories are still made out of some facts and lots of imagination.

I had ordered this with Destinaton Truth & Travel Channel's Ghost Stories. I loved the other two but Lost Tapes was terrible. It couldn't keep my attention, terrible acting and just plain BORING! I do not recommend this series.

I bought this awhile back, and it's pretty good compared to seasons 1 and 3. The only downside is that they start to reveal too much of the cryptid in some episodes, most notably in Jersey Devil and Dover Demon. But all and all, it's a great buy, and I highly recommend it!!!
