I hit good ol' Amazondotcom & found the three highest-rated anti-fog products & tried them out on successive weeks.
NUMBER THREE is the artfully-named "Cat Crap" Ek Cat Crap Glass and Lens Cleaner It's a waxy substance, you smear it on & by the directions buff it until clear. But I don't know how to tell the difference between "buffing until clear" and "wiping it off." It did do better at mitigating the fogging problem than the old spray-on I had laying around. But it still didn't keep the lenses clear, either. Three Stars.
NUMBER TWO is Sea Drops McNett Sea Drops Anti-Fog & Lens Cleaner, (1.25 oz) This is a viscous fluid, you smear it on & let it dry, then buff. I buffed it just barely enough for the spots to disappear & tried it out. It worked "pretty good." My lenses didn't fog up, stayed mostly clear but by the end of class there was still a little spotting. Much better than the old spray-on, but still not quite as good as number one. Four Stars.
For my money, NUMBER ONE is Fog Tech. FogTech Anti-fog 30ml Solution It's a clear solution, you wipe it on & let dry. That's it, no guessing how much buffing you need. My goggles stayed clear & dry throughout the class. It may be the priciest solution, but it works. Five Stars.
Now I can see the foot coming at my nose.
Much better.
Next up: "Blocking"
However, since I bought a dozen of these, I decided to give it another try. I applied the thing on the right half of my visor and went to the office. It was working!!! The left side was fogging like hell, the right side only fogged once and cleared almost instantly. After a few more runs, I came down to this: It works fine, if you apply it before leaving for a ride. It won't last a whole day. In the evening, you have to reapply. It takes a couple of minutes to apply it, but the good thing is, you have the best visibility ever, even in the rain at night. Much better than with a visor insert.
So, to summarize, the pros: 1. very good visibility, 2. you can also use it on your glasses
The cons: 1. You have to apply it every few hours, 2. Some times it fogs, but if you crack the visor a bit it unfogs instantly.
It takes a few minutes to apply the paste on my glasses and then wipe the excess off. After applying, I can see through the glasses perfectly and there is no noticable odor. The product seemed to seperate a little bit while in my toolbox, but the container was sealed enough to hold the moisture in the container. I would be hesitant to have this container in an environment where it may get crushed and/or tumble around.
Overall, this isn't an amazing product but it seems to do the trick. I only wish that I had a little more faith in the container not cracking open.
