The dimensions of the Stinger 300MCD21V remote are 3" Long x 1-3/4" Wide x 1/2" High (excluding the visor clip). The two-tiered contour of the Stinger face makes it feel smaller in your hand.
The remote with included A23 12v battery and visor clip weighs only 1.2 oz. (very light).
The visor clip is removable, but secured with a small Phillips-head screw so it doesn't fall off. With the visor clip removed, the user will hardly notice the size and weight of the remote when carried in a pocket or purse.
The battery compartment cover slides down and off and is very easy to open using just your fingers. This is a nice feature compared to other brands of remotes on the market that often require a coin, small screwdriver or knife to pry them open. The 10-position DIP switch block inside the compartment has the ON position clearly marked on one side to aid in setting the correct code.
The A23 battery mount is quite flimsy and there are no +/- polarity marks on the case to guide the user when installing the battery. I wish the quality of the battery mount was better.
I tested the remote with a frequency analyzer and it was transmitting exactly at 300.0 MHz which is per the specification. This is important because there isn't a potentiometer inside the case to adjust the frequency. The remote has a red LED that lights when the button is pushed.
The operating range is excellent. In my situation, the remote opens the gate with one push of the button at a distance of 200 feet through window glass even where the path to the receiver antenna is partially obstructed by the corner of a building. Very nice!
