What is resqme?

Main Features:
- Made in USA - The Original!
- Breaks car side windows.
- Cuts jammed safety belts.
- Compact, lightweight and powerful.
- Materials: ABS plastic |Stainless Steel.
- GS TUV Certified.
How to use resqme
Grab the resqme
Put your finger through the ring and pull out the clip to unveil the stainless steel blade. It is the easiest way.
Cut the jammed seat belt
Cut diagonally to ensure a cut in one go. It takes less than 2 seconds to cut the jammed seat belt! One resqme can cut up to 100 individual seat belts.
Break the tempered glass window
Push the head of the tool (black cylindrical part), firmly, against one of the corner of the tempered glass side window. It won't work on laminated glass! For best results, press against the corners, not the center.
Where to place the resqme?
On the rear view mirror
Where it will be easily accessible for you and for your front passenger.
On the headrest
This way, it will be easily accessible for your back passengers in case of emergency.
On the gear stick
Very convenient spot to ensure the tool will not get lost in case of a rollover.
On your keys
Always a safe bet! Carry it with you anywhere and it will come handy in an emergency situation, inside or outside the car.
How does it work?
The resqme tool attaches to your keychain with a detachable clip. In the event of an emergency, pull the resqme tool away from the clip to reveal the blade. If the seatbelt is jammed, cut the belt by hooking the blade over and slicing it across.
To break the window, press the black head of the tool against the corner of the window and it will release the spring-loaded spike and shatter the glass. The resqme tool does not work on car windshields. It is effective only against tempered glass commonly used in side windows.
How do I remove the safety blade clip?
First attach the key ring or the cable tie (or the lanyard if you purchased the Premium Accessory Pack) around the loop of the clip to have more of a grip. Then unsnap the clip (pull straight / brisk movement) using the key ring or the cable tie around the loop.
Please note that without support of key ring or the cable tie it can be a little difficult to remove the blade clip and can cause the resqme to break.
How do I know the type of glass used in my car?
Most sunroofs and rear windows are tempered. To figure out what kind of glass is in the side window of your car, you can look in the bottom corner. There may be a label that says 'tempered' or 'laminated.' If not, roll down the window and look at it from a bird’s-eye view. If it’s smooth and looks like one piece, it’s tempered. If it looks like a sandwich with a ridge, it’s laminated.
Is the resqme reusable?
Yes! resqme is designed to be used more than 1 time!
The spring-loaded spike resets automatically and can be used multiple times.
The blade is very durable and can easily perform multiple seat belt cuts.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2011I was a career FF in a previous life and this is perfect for breaking side window glass and cutting seat belts. I bought this for overseas travel and for the car. It is small, lightweight, and sturdy. The black "plug" for the key ring that is in front of the razor blade does take some pull to remove, but after taking if off a few times it has loosened up, but not the the point where it will fall off. It still needs a good tug.
The seat belt slides between the prongs for cutting. There is a key ring included so you can add it to your car keys.
The spring loaded plunger works too. I tested it on a piece of scrap lumber. Just press down and ...POP! The metal pin inside pops out and it left a good dent in the wood. It should have no problems breaking the side window glass in a vehicle. Be sure to place the pin in a corner near the top of the window. When the glass breaks, it won't cut you when it lands on your hand or arm. You can also use the pin on the front or rear windshield, but it won't shatter the glass like the side window, but you can put spider web cracks in the glass. This makes it easier to kick or push something through the windshield like an umbrella or windshield scraper.
The pin will work underwater too. You don't have to swing this to break the glass. Just press it against the window and keep pressing, it will pop. I hope it makes it through TSA, I don't see why it shouldn't. I plan on buying more for family as gifts.
Update 01/31/2013: Easily made it through airport security in four countries, in addition to the TSA in the USA.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2025I watched multiple videos of recovery divers searching and finding missing cars in bodies of water. A high peecentage of those who didnt make it were trapped because they couldnt break a window. This is the model shown and recommended as its a simple press and self triggering mechanism. Highly worth having regardless of how near a body or water or how often you encounter one.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2024Bought his to have in my truck "just in case". I witnessed a Tesla cross over a lane and crash ending up on it's side. The Driver had apparently had a seizure. I was easily able to break the two drivers side windows
to see in, luckily I had a knife to cut the airbags. I was then able to break the sunroof to get access to the victim who was just gaining consciousness. This tool was absolutely priceless in the moment. I'm not a bot and they didn't pay me for this just buy the damn thing.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2025I keep one in each vehicle, I’ve seen lots of videos of other people breaking glass with these. I hook mine to my headrest instead of the mirror because I don’t like stuff hanging up there but i want it within reach from a static seated position and somewhere that seems really secure.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2020this has hung in my jeep above the windshield since 2016. and i had a rollover just the beginning of 2020.
i was completely uninjured and didn't need to cut my seatbelt because i was strong and coordinated enough to press on the roof and remove my weight enough to unbuckle.
but had to break the glass to get out.
while i cannot speak to the seatbelt cutting ability of the tool the glass breaker broke my side window with little effort at all and i was not cut.
the only reason i cannot give it 5 stars is because when i broke the window i broke some off of the tip of the tool.
it can survive banging around my jeep but if you have a bit of adrenaline and squeeze the thing poping a window you may take damage the tool. i believe if you either grip it as shown in the Amazon product photos or with the keyring clip installed you can squeeze all you want and not break it.
i added some photos to illustrate how i broke it and how to grip it and not break it.
i dont think this tool is for rescuing others so i dont hold this as a failure. i see it as a tool to get yourself out quickly and efficiently. and for that five stars.
i will be buying 2 more and installing them in easy reach within my new jeep.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2022I recommend this product. Both the seatbelt cutter and the spring-loaded window punch work as intended. As a firefighter/paramedic, I did a lot of crash rescue work. I know that both seatbelts and car doors do sometimes get jammed in wrecks. I keep mine on a bit of elastic cord and hung from the turn signal stalk on the side of the steering wheel column, where it will stay and be easily found after even a violent collision.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2016It's proven, I mean I tried it out on my hand it hurts like hitting your thumb with a sledgehammer (not recommend this even if you don't like your thumb). I did watch a stack of internet videos of people trying out various hammers and similar systems, this was the only one that worked consistently. Also, it wasn't expensive. I decided not to try it out on my windows as I don't feel like replacing the just yet. I like that it came with a zip-tie to secure it to my sun shade where it will stay put even through an accident and assuming I haven't broken both of my arms I can reach it and use it while hanging upside down in water yelling at my buddy Allison for getting us into this mess again. Allison is a good friend but she gets crazy when someone cuts her off in traffic or you were blue stripes with polka dot socks.
the clip releases quickly and I tried that out a few times while nursing my hand from when I tested the hammer out- I mean I didn't read the instruction carefully and mistakenly thought I had to "cock it." I mean you cock the hammer on a gun, right?
Allison laughed a lot at me over this manly oversight. I do love her - of course, I did make her walk home for shaming my manhood like that- I am exaggerating- we were parked in front of her house. I gave her my extra one, I love that woman also I want her to be safe too.

Ben StewartReviewed in the United Kingdom on December 9, 20245.0 out of 5 stars So good I got another one for my wife. Confirmed it works!
Really handy size and lightweight. I keep one in each car in a loose change compartment near the steering wheel. You could have it on a key chain if you wanted. I was dubious at first but I tested it when I had my conservatory glass roof replaced (solid heavy double glazing) and it broke the glass after two strikes. Very easy to use and I would recommend. Haven't used the blade to cut a seatbelt but I'm sure it would.

Never used it, and I hope I never have to . But its good to have it at hand in case something happens.
JeholReviewed in Australia on March 26, 20245.0 out of 5 stars Should be compulsory
excellent design and well made
FebReviewed in the Netherlands on July 4, 20234.0 out of 5 stars Amazing little device
The device is small compact and lightweight, it has a puncture force that i am sure will do it's magic as what you see in the video. Obviously I can't test it in my car windows right now but just on the card box and a white note... the puncture penetrate more than 6 layer of paper. so its impressive. The media could not be loaded.
1 little improvement note for the designer, perhaps don't make the trigger mechanism too hard. It is because after the crash usually the victims or occupants are shaky and nervest ( Sudden lost of energy, specially if their slightly injured in the arm ), my guess is they don't have enough strength to push it this hard. So perhaps newer design that doesn't require large force to trigger it would be nicer.
Nevertheless I keep this and it sit in my car now.
