Editorial Reviews
Review
The book covers a myriad of topics relevant to the adolescent with Asperger Syndrome, such as body image, self-esteem, masturbation and personal hygiene. Topics for adults include contraception, libido, responsibility and decision-making. Many topics are illustrated with case examples and specific strategies to try (such as a daily hygiene chart). Author: Autism Victoria Library
This guide for people with AS and those who care for them presents practical information and advice on issues ranging from contraception to couple dynamics and gender identity. A number of worksheets and activities for the development of sociosexual skills are provided in the second half of the volume. The author is a psychologist specializing in sexual education and psychotherapy for people on the autism spectrum. Author: Book News
People who have AS are just as loving, caring and have a sex life just like anybody else. This book I am very impressed with. It is very rare. There is no research; sex education for AS needs research. Author: Asperger United --This text refers to the paperback edition.

There is one deficiency which I consider major enough to subtract a star. This is the description of what the book describes as one of the most notorious serial killers of our time, Jeffrey Dahmer. Why this was included is a mystery to me. There was a proposition that a diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome was probable, based upon current diagnostic criteria. Only “probable”. There is enough stigma and fear about folks with mental illness so that this just makes things worse. Maybe the author was doing what the popular media often do; try to get attention by taking the most extreme cases, which might have something to do with mental illness, and sensationalizing them. This causes harm to all folks with mental illness, almost all of whom have not killed approximately 20 young men, engaging in acts of necrophilia cannibalism!
The book however is written for clinicians and doesn't give enough imaginative assistance to autistic readers. The next edition could be made more useful for the latter by adding many more example problems and solutions. This would help us to apply these ideas and imagine changes and solutions in our own lives (e.g. what can we do about "social asexualization"?). Some books particularly successful at providing this while avoiding anecdotal style are Living Well on the Spectrum: How to Use Your Strengths to Meet the Challenges of Asperger Syndrome/High-Functioning Autism , Asperger Syndrome (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and Long-Term Relationships: Fully Revised and Updated with DSM-5® Criteria Second Edition , and Asperger's Syndrome Workplace Survival Guide: A Neurotypical's Secrets for Success .
I would highly recommend this book to clinicians. Since there is nothing else I guess I would also recommend to patients but it will require extra time and effort to apply.

The best book I have read on the subject of Asperger syndrom and sexuality. An area I work professionally in.
Not many more words needed.
